About Me
Tykus, Drew Hanney, was born April 10 1981, in the Royal City Guelph. First introduced to music at the age of 5 while taking a bath, Tykus’ mom gave him a little boombox and two tapes of two different genres of music....RUN-DMC "Tougher Than Leather" and Led Zepplin 4....shit was poppin. Young and growing Tykus compounded a collection of HipHop at the age of 8 that would make any head wild the fuck out. He wrote his first rap in grade 3 with his mom entitled The Rainforest...my moms was a super human fuckin ghost writer. Regardless, as time progressed and hiphop grew within myself, I began to meet many cats. At 12 he started loosly writing, but focused more on graffiti and had a passion for turntabalism. Growing up in a governented funded home with a single mother, Tykus chose new routes, new friends, new mental states. The diabolic growth of spirituality and realism was on. Tyke began indulging in substances around 13, and at that age.....fuck parental guidance. Sex, drugs, hiphop, gorilla attitudes, stupid shit on a regular basis. While attending high school he met a dude named Drunkn Solja, who at the time was chillen with his homey Shorty Royale. So they all linked and began throwin eggs, buggin on cats, bombin, rhymin, smokin....wishin and graspin for the womb. As we all grew, hiphop grew as well, and DS started a co-op at CFRU 93.3, the local university radio station. Tyke was down with the cats who did the show on tuesdays at 4pm, DJ Nv-Us and BMP. At that time we did the Wed. 12am slot...goin to school, part-time jobs, part-time hustle, hiphop all day. Jump ahead again, 5 years later, Tykus, already entered numerous battles, performed on a nice number of stages, did tons of dumb shit, developed numerous sexual techniques, recorded tracks, so on and so on...achieving dreams that through everything he never thought would happen, the possibilities grew. Movin to Montreal with a gorgeous women, he linked with The Ghetto Ponys, Naval Avatar, Teaser, and Bedrock to name a few...recording, painting the streets, working and eating baklava and drinking Carling 10% 40oz. everyday, Tykus ripped mics performed at a few venues, but continued to lay low. SO lets jump to the precious time of now...Tykus is currently in the works of a few projects, a solo joint Death Wish 2012 prod. by Andy Able, a couple of mixtapes, THE DEAD MERCHANTS ALBUM...Andy Able and Tykus...Also, Tykus runs Holycomet Records a highly independent label broke as fuck and hungry, determined and destined to change hiphop.Be Easy,
Tykus..
