Singer/Songwriter Evan Spade was born in Quebec City, Canada. Being a small town guy with big-time music dreams, he decided one day to pack up is life & leave with only a suitcase in his hand & a guitar on his back.
After spending years honing his craft with brother Steven Vegas in London, Montreal, New York & Atlanta, it’s only when he landed in Dallas that he met talented fellow singer/songwriter Bart Van Bemmel winner of the inaugural VH-1 Across America Contest with his band Soulmates Dinner Club.
As their chemistry developed into a brotherhood, they teamed up to play at various Texas venues & created many projects together including Satellite Bishops, Radio Thursday & the critically acclaimed Owen Bishop (2004-2007).
Getting momentum, their unique sound quickly earned recognition on the national stage:
ï€ Spring Break 2003-2004 CD, featuring Redman and Keith Murray (Satellite Bishops)
ï€ Won the Battle of the Bands on Clear Channel's “The Mich Show†in 2004 (Satellite Bishops)
ï€ Played on several CMJ/College & internet stations around the US. (Owen Bishop)
ï€ Mike Galaxy’s Indie Hits CD for TV/Film consideration in L.A. (Owen Bishop)
ï€ Slots on local & major national festivals. (Owen Bishop, Radio Thursday)
ï€ Top finalists in the David Ivory Song Competition over hundreds of submissions (Owen Bishop).
ï€ Won a Dallas Songwriter Association Award in 2006 (Owen Bishop).
Their tracks NYC and Bird’s Eye View eventually caught the attention of Grammy-nominated producer Alex Gerst & took them under his wing to record the songs. The song BEV was soon after featured on Kiss FM in Ottawa (Ontario) Canada & dominated the Pop/Rock Awards voting for 2 weeks straight, eventually winning Best Male Vocals, Production, Lyrics, Mood, Feel-Good Track, Potential Movie Soundtrack, and Melody & Drums, out of more than 500 active Pop/Rock bands on Garageband.com.
NYC landed in the top finalists of the David Ivory Song Competition amongst hundreds of bands submissions & earned them a premier slot at the Dallas music festival.
Spade spent most of 2007 writing new material with Van Bemmel & working behind the scene. In early 2008, he headed back into the studio to finish an EP with 2-time Grammy winner producer Eric Delegard to record new songs including single HIT Human Cannonball and fine-tune a new sound all his own.
Soon after its release, the catchy Human Cannonball landed in the hands of legendary DJ, Billboard Award Winner and Texas music personality Redbeard, producer/host of the nationally syndicated show In The Studio who proclaimed “I have to start my day with the breakfast of champions, Human Cannonball -- twice! I'm convinced now more than ever that it’s a mass-appeal HIT!â€
Evan Spade is currently back in the studio with longtime collaborators Eric Delegard & Alex Gerst and is currently seeking management opportunities..
