My Interests

Music:

Influences: Lately I've been in a real Jim Keltner/Levon Helm/Steve Jordan state of mind. But you know I always loves me some Stewart Copeland and some Steve Gadd. And all drummers are under the influence of Bonham/Ringo and Moony - even the jazz guys! Ohh and Jojo Mayer! And Johnny Rabb! And Al Jackson and.....

Anyway, I started out playing in post punk/hardcore bands back in Chicago and was very into guys like "Big Paul" Ferguson (Killing Joke) Mac from Jesus Lizard, Ray from Scratch Acid, Jim Kimball (Laughing Hyenas) Ted Parsons (Swans and Prong) Steven Perkins (Jane's Addiction) and the almighty Earl Hudson (Bad Brains). Later, when I started working more with loops and electronics I found that Bill Rieflin (Ministry RevCo, et al, now REM) and my pal Servo (Chem Lab, 16 Volt) were the guys who led the way. RIP Jeff Ward, who was a giant among men behind the kit.

Lately, seeing Johnny (Rabb) play with USSA and Jojo Mayer with Nerve are two refresher courses on how to play with machines and still be a monster behind the kit.

It makes me want to practice more - and I do!
Sounds Like: Whatever the music requires. Bonus points if it gets people moving.
