The Rhode Island Volunteer Militia is a volunteer Search and Rescue / Disaster Relief group. Our roots are based in the traditional unorganized militia established by Title 10, §311 USC. Thus we train to protect life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness as well as protect and prepare the everyday citizen. We accomplish these goals by maintaining our readiness through monthly Field Training Exercises and various programs designed to educate those who are not members. Some of the programs we offer are Firearms Safety Courses, Hiking Safety and Navigation, Operation: Snow Lift, and Community Watch Programs. We believe that educated citizens are safe citizens, and the safer we are the better Rhode Island will be. We are not racists, militants, survivalists, elitists, cultists, or members of a political fringe group, we are simply ordinary people like you, who want to make a difference in our community and our country and make it a safer, happier place to live...
