ESSJEE
Essjee’s music has grown, developed and matured after years of practicing, jamming, performing and experimenting with many different ears, minds and instruments. His musical journey thus far has been one of diverse experience, performing at Woodford folk festival, The Dandenong Ranges Folk Festival, The National Folk Festival, The Boolarra Folk Festival, a lot of small town country pubs and around lot of campfires, throughout Australia since his teenage years, he has shared the stage with a broad range of recognised and respected performers, including; Jeff Achison, Carl Panuzzo, Mal Webb, Something for Kate, The Living End and many more. He is also a performer with the percussion ensemble ‘Rhythm Antics’ and through this has developed a strong sense of rhythm and the foundations that it can create for a song. By playing his guitar in unconventional, percussive and dynamic ways, he is able to make a song both a musical adventure, and an expressive catharsis that is beyond genre and beyond description.Essjee has been teaching children the guitar since 2001, he is a classically trained pianist, and a gifted singer.
He can be seen performing solo and acoustic every second Thursday at ‘Earthly Pleasures’ in Belgrave and is playing regularly throughout Melbourne. He has a very natural approach to performing live, and a warm charm that seems to open a space for the audience to feel as though they are very much a part of the musical journey.
