About Me

My name is Nick. I enjoy making movies. Particularly lighting and shooting, or "painting with light" as they say. But really filmmaking is just a stepping stone for me. Soon I hope to get a letter from USC with some good news. They have a unique cinema technologies program where they design the tools filmmakers utilize to make some fantastic stuff, including bullet times and cgi motion capture.
I'm always looking at cinematography gear, finding ways to build my own. Cinema is still a pretty young art form and there is a lot of room for innovations. One I am rallying for is digital cinema. Not celluloid but not quite video either, its making the stuff I want to do more accessible. I have high stock in digital cinema technology, and I hope to follow in the footsteps of innovators like James Cameron, Robert Zemeckis and Stu Maschwitz.
I'm currently working on my own cablecam aerial camera platform, which as far as I know is going to be the first "indie" implementation of its kind. I hope to have that finished soon so I can realize my vision for my short film "Streaks" shooting summer 2008. Nick's site.
