These are pretty well coverd in the About Me section
I'd like to meet Sophia Coppolla and ask her what the Hell the point was to "The Virgin Suicides." I'd like to meet Howard Dean so he could give me the scoop on who the DNC is going to send up for the White House in a couple of years. I'd like to meet my ex sister in law's new boyfriend because I've heard he's a real loser and I love to see things like that for myself. I'd like to meet some celebrities, maybe, but only if they were wasted enough to be honest. I'm not really into autographs and publicity pictures, but I'd love to sit with Britney Spears at a bar and hear her rant about K-Fed. Or the Dixie Chicks. Or Lyle Lovett. Okay, that's who I'd like to meet. Lyle Lovett.
These are tough, Man. I listen to everything except Scream Metal. Love Pop, when it's done correctly (see Nsync, Britney back in the day, etc. Justin Timberlake and the Chili Peppers have the only great albums this year), country all the time, alternative when it was edgy and exciting and all the bands didn't sound the same (think Nirvana, STP, Pearl Jam). Favorite rapper would be Tupac, although I love Jay-Z and think Luda is the only man in hip hop doing anything slightly interesting anymore. Maybe Eminem once he gets his shit together. Favorite song of all time would be Hey Jealousy by the Gin Blossoms and Summertime by anybody. Favorite music of all time is that of Mr. George Gershwin.
Favorites are Gone with the Wind, Auntie Mame, Beaches (yeah, say what you will, but we all need to stream the tears every now and then), The Virgin Suicides (the only movie that has ever left me stumped, asking, "What? What was I supposed to learn?"), Field of Dreams, Grumpy Old Men and Grumpier Old Men.... That's enough for now. Hit me up if you want recommendations.
I absolutely can't miss My Name is Earl or The Office. Since Project Runway is done, I'm on Top Chef. There's the perenial favorite The Simpsons, of course, and American Idol is a must. Love Celebrity Fit Club to see all those spoiled brats have freak outs and The Surreal Life for the same reason. I watch Wife Swap when I want to see "how the other half lives" and Super Nanny. Nanny 911 has nothing on JoJo. Also can't live without my Judge Judy on Mondays when I'm off. Sure, I watch People's Court and Judge Mathis and all the rest, but my heart resides firmly in Judy's court.
Oh... wow. Childhood favorites are The Secret Garden, Madeleine, Harriet the Spy, and Fletcher and Zynobia. More grownup rereads are The Emperor of Ocean Park, Death Be Not Proud, Catcher in the Rye, A Separate Peace, Nine Stories (J.D. Salinger), Cat's Cradle, A Moveable Feast (really, any Hemingway), Charming Billy, Attachments (Judith Rossner - don't get to Searching for Mr. Goodbar and stop), Fear of Flying, The Great Gatsby, Brave New World, The Color Purple, Another Roadside Attraction.... I could go on and on. Currently re-reading all the John Irving. Already through Hotel New Hampshire and Owen Meany. Next was supposed to be World According to Garp, but I'm tired of incest, dress dummies and midgets, so I'm reading A Million Little Pieces, even if the guy is a liar.
Heroes? Wow. Tough one. Jimmy Carter's belief in his fellow man. Jackie Robinson's ability to play through the jeers and rotten fruit being thrown as he rounded the bases. Thoreau's statement that "passive resistance to evil is tantamount to its perpetration" has always resonated with me. But as far as who I want to be? What I want to be? I'm just trying to be the best I can and hope that people will say, one day, "Yeah, Catherine. She was a nice person."
