About Me

There is no feeling that does not find relief in music.
Having developed his own sound, beats, and lyrics in Chandler, Arizona, CATTFISH transcends the modern day rapper with creativity on the mic and skill in production. He is a well-rounded individual whose charisma and talent have led him to many opportunities in a budding career.
It takes dedication and a focused mind to be so deserving of local artists’ respect and appreciation. CATTFISH’s selflessness shows through in his latest projects which include production on countless albums and mix tapes as well as lyricism on his and others’ tracks. In reference to a track on his latest album, there is nothing “JOLLY” about this “FROG” when he’s lost in concentration during his creative sessions; he’s in the zone, not easily bothered as he masters each track to perfection in every sense of the word. Loving every minute of his work and appreciating the blessing, he understands the sacrifices that need to be made in order to rise in his career. Perfectionism is not the term used to describe this CATT, it’s much of an understatement, he’s got “That Fire” when it comes to music and it takes more than rain in the “DIRTY SOUTHWEST” to put it out.
This epic flame was ignited at the early age of nine with the upbringing of a Pastor and his wife. In The Chapel full of bible-reading, church-singing folk, you could find CATTFISH front row with a pen and his notebook practicing his lyricism and bobbing his head. As he matured through middle and high school his interests expanded to other entities as well as music. In 2001, a passion which was once simultaneously spread across multiple sports soon became focused on the one dwelling in his heart, his love for MUSIC.
With music in his heart and a progressing skill in his mind he soon became known around Arizona for producing phenomenal beats. He began producing at the tender age of 19 and polished up his expertise quickly with his background in computer engineering. Soon major labels and local artists that were up and coming were requesting Fish Beats through word of mouth. His growing talent of producing would soon catch up with his perfected skill of rapping and performing. His genuine attitude and stage presence appeal to all crowds on and off stage. With the combined sound of Snoop Dogg and A+ from the Hieroglyphics, CATTFISH engages his listeners with his catchy flow and signature sound. Off stage the personality compliments the work in that it is honest, hard-working, and reflects a driven individual’s hunger for more

Influences: 1st and foremost Kriss Kross and ABC - I saw Kriss Kross debut on In Living Color and remember going into the living room trying to rap right after that and the rest is history in the making, after that me and my friends tried to starts a group like ABC, 2ndly and so important Lil O, Drama, and Miracle, when I was spittin in my dorm room for fun I heard these corny n'yahs and figured if they could get on BET rapping so could I (honest to God truth that's why I started rapping lol), Run DMC (flow - how to not sound monotone but to fluctate and move pitch and speed with the beat), Bone Thugs (flow - made me wanna learn to spit fast, I wouldn't be rapping if it wasn't for them), Jaz-O (learned to toungue twist by doin his "N**** What" verse over and over, I wouldn't have my flow if it wasn't for him), Keith Murray (one of my idols the best rapper to never blow up, Eminem put Redman over Jigga and Pac, I put Murray over Jigga and Pac), Daz (flow), Ice Cube (All time favorite & his flow), Kurupt (lyrics & freestyling - "You're not a real emcee if you can't freestyle"), Jurassic 5 (freestyling - crowd participation, getting 3rd parties to suggest words or give a topic so audience knows freestyle is 100% off the top and not some pre-written garbage), Brotha Lynch Hung (Flow, FLow, and FLOW......heavy influence on my current style I studied his flow on Gangsta like game tape), Dirty Birdy (made me wanna step my lyric game up), Crooked I (cuz he's just that damn good), Wu-Tang esp Ghostface, Rebel INS, Raekwon & RZA (other all time favorite, lyrics - "abstract rhyming"), Black Thought (lyrics), Nas (lyrics), Big L (Woulda been top 5 if he didn't get taken out...one of the best freestylers & the best storyteller in rap), Jay-Z (how to stay on top for years in spite of haters and naysayers, labels didn't want him so he made his own way in a big way.....and a top 2 freestyler, I think I like Monch just a little more off the top), Master P (model for independant labels even today...."major hustle" - market yourself to the consumers like a major label artist would - the strategy I'm using for Dirty Southwest), Chuck D & Rage Against the Machine (effectively making politcal music that folks wanna listen to), Eminem, Ludacris, Outkast, B-52's & George Clinton (attitude - that it's ok to do you on the mic and not give a f***), Michael Jackson, Quincy Jones, Pink Floyd, Jim Morrison, Bradley Nowell, Janis Joplin, Prince & Bob Marley (Exhaulted lyricists & musical geniuses - Quincy Jones is my idol), Timberland and Neptunes (being more than just a button pushing beatmaker and actually "producing" records, and more specifically drum patterns from both and sampling from Timb), Dr. Dre (layering drums and engineering songs/beats), Devante Swing (the man who taught Timberland and producer of my all-time favorite album), Eric Sermon (mix and matching samples to make 1 beat), my new beat idol Just Blaze (I AM FROM THE EAST COAST AND WILL SAMPLE TILL THE DAY I DIE SORRY BABY)....and last but not least Eddie Murphy (all time favorite comedian- the basis for most of my skits).BIGGEST INFLUENCES are........
Sounds Like: I try and be different as possible but depending on what speed I'm spittin at some folks say I sound like...
