Greetings & Salutations,
First of all, for those of you who know me and are wondering what’s going on, I decided to start a personal page separate from my “ D-Sane †page. My “ D-Sane †page is kinda starting to take on a life of its own and is going to be geared more towards my business soon. I’m also having trouble keeping up with my personal friends, so this page will help alleviate that problem.
For those of you who don’t know me (or *THINK* you do), my name is David. Or Dave, as some people call me, because I decided in the 7th grade that it made me sound older. Or “Dave-D†as some old school peeps know me (that’s HELLA old school). Or “D-Sane†as my fans & business associates know me. Most of my friends call me “D†though. I’m 34yrs old, but I don’t feel a day over 25, which is also how old I’m often guessed to be. People who know me would probably say I act 15 most of the time though…lol. I guess you could say I’m “young at heart.†I live in the North Seattle area with my 2 dogs Jasmin & Mystic (the 2 cutest & most lovable pits you’ll ever meet). I own my home, have reliable transportation and am gainfully self-employed as a recording studio owner/engineer & Hip-Hop producer. I also ran/kinda still run one of Seattle’s most prolific indie Hip-Hop labels ( Street Level Records ) and have released around 15 albums since 1998. I’m blessed to be able to make a living doing what I love to do and wouldn’t want to be doing anything else in life.
I’m a rare mix of book smarts & street smarts, a hybrid I guess you could say. I was raised in a nice North Seattle middle-class neighborhood until I was 12, and then woke up one morning in the ghetto in Las Vegas where I lived until I was about 16. Basically I spent my “impressionable years†running the streets/hood and getting myself into ALL SORTS of trouble with my “gangster buddies.†Las Vegas is also where I fell in love with Hip-Hop and may never be doing what I am today if it wasn’t for the unfortunate turn of events that forced our move from Seattle. Crazy how life works, huh?
I have a very eclectic circle of friends. Being that I come from such a socially diverse background, it’s only natural that I have a diverse group of friends. They range from gun-toting gangbangers to business execs to closet-racist butt-rockers. I even have a gay friend or 2. I don’t judge books by their cover...EVER, and I don’t care who you are or what you do as long as you be yourself and keep it real with me. White, Black, Asian, Latino, Purple Martian...whatever. I have friends from all walks of life and I can relate to all of them. I’m a virtual social chameleon. One day you might see me in a suit, the next day all thugged out in jeans and a t-shirt that says “FUCK YOU, PAY ME.†:)
I think the word ECCENTRIC best describes me. You’ll never meet anybody like me in your life. I feel misunderstood all the time though and I think people think I’m crazy. I mean, I know I’m crazy, but not crazy like they think I’m crazy. Lol…yeah, I’m weird. Or maybe I actually am crazy like they think I’m crazy? I’m not crazy, you’re crazy!!!
I got into music in 4th grade when I joined the school band and played clarinet. I wanted to play drums though and they wouldn’t let me until junior high & high school. Then I fell in love with DJing in 1988 and decided that’s what I wanted to do until I discovered a drum machine in 1990 and the rest is history. I taught myself how to make music and would probably be dead by now if I didn’t have this artistic outlet. There’s nothing like sitting down to my keyboard and letting my feelings flow from my fingertips. It’s very therapeutic. I’ll make music until the day I die, regardless if I’m getting paid for it or not. It’s my passion.
I am a very passionate person and always put 100% into EVERYTHING that I do whether it be my music, love or war. I can be your best friend or your worst enemy, the person that you get depends on how you treat me. I’m a very eye for an eye type of person and have been known to be very vengeful. As long as you respect me and do right by me, we’ll never have a problem and I will ride for you til the death. Cross me, and we’ll be enemies for life. I despise liars and respect honesty regardless of how much it hurts to hear. I'm all about respect, honesty and loyalty.
I have no problems communicating or expressing myself. I've also been known to have a sharp tongue. I sometimes don’t think about things I say before I say them and occasionally offend people with my brutal honesty. Tactfulness is not one of my redeeming qualities. I’m also a very opinionated person, but I’m ALWAYS open to new ideas and points of view. I also like to argue and enjoy an intelligent debate with somebody any day of the week. But you should probably know that I’m ALWAYS right, so arguing with me is pointless because you’re wrong anywayz. ;)..
