The Corner Store Radio Show was conceived in the Fall of the year 2000 by Brian Kim (Oddsequence of the Jupitersciples), Ryan Baysa (Of the Blue Key Coretet), Kevin Acevedo (of Worldwide Triplexian Fame), and myself, FRANK(E) (Beathackerz Collective/L-AGON). We needed to make a demo for the new radio station at Cal State Fullerton to "audition" and see if they would let us have a show there. This was basically our first show, although it was never aired. The original cast was made up of Ryan, Kevin, and FRANK(E). The show originally aired Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7-9pm and then changed to Tuesdays 7-9pm, Saturdays 6-8pm.
Although the Corner Store crew has tapered down to FRANK(E) hosting and DJ'ing the show, the concept has remained the same: We strive to be your local supplier of HIPHOP, JAZZ, AND SOUL MUSIC. Just like your neighborhood corner store, where you can buy your bread and milk, we are here to provide you with the musical essentials to help you get through the evening and, hopefully, the rest of your week. The entire musical spectrum is covered here at the Corner Store. While it is Hip Hop based, The Corner Store Radio Show pays tribute to the music that has influenced and is influenced by the sound of Hip Hop music. From Gangstarr to Groove Armada to Herbaliser to Herbie Hancock, we guarantee a fresh and unique mix of music for your Tuesday night enjoyment!
