Off the Beaten Path

Life is a journey...we don't always get the best lessons from taking the most direct path.

About Me

I am blessed beyond measure. I have a great many interests and talents. I am a realist. I am forgiving, but not very forgetful. I am very picky with whom I spend time. I am capable of learning anything.
I work to make a positive impact on the communities in which I belong. I believe in Random Acts of Kindness, Paying It Forward, and not Sweat(ing) the Small Stuff. I like change. Few things keep my attention for an extended period. I play, volunteer, and work hard.
I live to travel and am currently planning a 9-10 week trip through Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, and Vietnam next summer.

My Interests

"To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded."
--Ralph Waldo Emerson

I'd like to meet:

Look forward to reconnecting with old friends, maintaining the great friendships I am blessed to have, and meeting interesting people...

Music:

I really believe I am tone deaf. I can't carry a tune even if given one with a handle. I enjoy listening to 80s music, some country, and overall just flip channels during commercials. My favorite song is "In Your Eyes" by Peter Gabriel.

Movies:

I am all for a good comedy, adventure, drama, sports, and even an occassional romance. My favorite movies are Hoosiers and History of the World Part 1. I am not a fan of horror movies.

Television:

I am not a big fan of the tele. I will watch sports and enjoy Heroes. Otherwise, I usually have the tv on for background noise.

Books:

I am not much of a reader. I normally have trouble finding books which capture and keep my interest. My favorite book of all-time is Don't Sweat the Small Stuff. The last book I read for fun that I finished was The Da Vinci Code.

Heroes:

By three methods we may learn wisdom: First, by reflection, which is noblest; Second, by imitation, which is easiest; and Third, by experience which is bitterest. -Confucius
