David Rhodes

David lives in Los Angeles and has scored the premieres of several contemporary theatrical works such as "Maid" my Erik Ehn and "One Big Lie", a full musical with text by Liz Duffy Adams. David's dedication to experimentation and his unorthodox fusion of music and text has earned him enthusiastic reviews for his "inventive", "heady", and "mesmerizing" scores. As an experienced pianist and performer, David is frequently involved in his own compositions and performances and is frequently playing, conducting or both. David attended the University of Oregon School of Music and studied piano with Victor Steinhardt, and composition with David Crumb and Robert Kyr.David's music consists of striking rhythms and harrowing lyricism. Material is regenerated, layered, shifted, deconstructed, and reconstructed to embody a wide and sometimes confusing picture of one's indescribable internal world. Influenced by a variety of composers and eras, David's music merges the Classical, the atonal, and the minimal.David's last project was a piece for two cellos and twenty-four televisions which premiered in June of 2006 in Berkeley, California.Visit davidrhodesmusic.com
