About Me

Abraham Fabella is a PhD student in music composition at the University of California, Los Angeles. He received graduate degrees in composition from the University of California, Riverside where he studied with Byron Adams and from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music where he studied with Conrad Susa. He received his undergraduate degree in Music Education at La Sierra University where he studied piano with Kimo Smith.
He has been commissioned by choirs and ensembles throughout California and his music has been featured on the San Francisco BluePrint New Music Festival, on the 2001-2002 concert series of the Lontano Music Group, and on KZSU 90.1 FM in Stanford, CA. He is currently the Director of Music at All Saints' Episcopal Church in Riverside, CA. His music is published by Yelton Rhodes.
About the tracks:
1. "Daydream" is the first movement of Child's Play for orchestra. 3,3,3,3/4,3,3,1/3 perc/pno/hp/strings. Performed in 2007 by the UC Riverside Orchestra, conducted by Ruth Charloff. (7:30)
2. "Tag" is the second and last movement of Child's Play for orchestra. (4:15)
3. "Wading With the Naiads" is the third movement of my piece Water Music. The instrumentation is flute, clarinet, bass clarinet, percussion, harp, two violins, viola, cello, and bass. Performed in 2004 by the SFCM New Music Ensemble. I consider it one of my more successful works. (9:27)
4. "Marine" is the second song in a set of five songs entitled Chansons avant la tombee de la nuit or "Songs Before Nightfall" with poems by Paul Verlaine. Performed in 2005 by Katy Daniel, mezzo-soprano and me on the piano. (0:52)
5. "Loki, the Trickster" is the last movement of my Preludes: Book I for piano. I performed this work several times, but this recording was made in San Mateo in 2005. (6:39)
6. "Finale" is the third and final movement of my Bassoon Sonata. This was performed in 2004 by Matt Arnold, bassoon and me on the piano (3:40)
