Having worked hard to build their own home studio Year Zero have been able to experiment and create a sound that the band feel is truly refreshing and unique. In a time where synths, samples, and fake string sounds rule the world, inspired by the live energy and neo-classical sounds of contemporary alternative rock bands such as Muse and Kasabian, and influenced by the pure vocal hooks of timeless pop bands like The Police, these 4 friends have set about creating groove induced alternative rock that will make you move purely through the energy produced by those three classic rock instruments of guitar, bass, and drums.
Scott, Billy, and Martin are lifelong friends who have grown up together in the suburban squalor of Airdrie, a glorious little haven for drunks, junkies, and unemployment on the outskirts of Glasgow. Along with long term friend Roy, these guys have spent the last few years gigging throughout Central Scotland to a growing and loyal fanbase, including a sell-out show at Glasgow’s 350 capacity ABC 2 venue.
During this time the band’s songs have received numerous spins on local radio including XFM Scotland with Jim Gellatly commenting on the band sounding like “the lovechild of Biffy Clyro and Snow Patrolâ€.
The band has recently completed some recordings with producer Stuart McLeod (The Dykeenies, Alto-Elite, The Fire & I) and hope post some new recordings in the coming weeks.
Year Zero are currently on the lookout for professional management.
