Street Credit has evolved into the energetic rock-influenced reggae band it is today over the past ten years. Jon Mulshenock and Eric Milano originally founded the band in South Florida somewhere around the fall of 2003 however they have been in and out of bands together since the mid nineties. Growing up influenced heavily by early Studio One recordings, Scratch Perry and the melodic dub of the seventies has led to the bass-heavy bottomed out rhythms that is Street Credit. These infectious grooves mixed with evolving songwriting give this young band a concrete musical foundation.
The Original line up has significantly change since the beginning, with the addition of Cam Allen and Bill Farrell in the summer of 2005. On lead guitar Cam Allen brings dirty blues licks and classic rock inspired solos that straddle the line of chaos and mastery. Bill Farrell is another excellent addition bringing with him an extensive musical background that includes classical piano, lead and rhythm guitar as well as vocals which have all been funneled into technically sound yet bouncy bass lines.
Since returning to New England, Street Credit's popularity is rapidly gaining momentum. They are filling clubs throughout Rhode Island and Boston with their energetic self-proclaimed "dirty rock/reggae" and cultivating what appears to be a very loyal fan base. Street Credit's addictive rhythms and energetic live show aided them in becoming a finalist in the coveted 2006 WBRU Rock Hunt, in which they beat out hundreds of other bands from the region. If you are a reggae fan, a rock fan, or just enjoy an energetic and original night of music, Street Credit is a band to check out.
