About Me

ICAN for short. We are a non-profit organization dedicated to making improvements to the community. Some of the things we pursue is working on the areas that are most difficult for homeowners to fix themselves, such as gutters and soffits. These improvements go a long way towards preventing a house from major repairs later, results from water damage. We also are dedicated to getting young people involved in their community as well. Some examples of this can be trimming lawns and right of ways or picking up trash in parks. We promote recycling efforts with the hopes of 90% recycling opportunity at all locations where people throw out their trash.Idealists also believes in community gardens, where fresh vegetables and fruits are made available to people in urban areas with an emphasis on community involvement. We also promote sustainable design and redesign practices including rainwater collection, urban wind energy, greenhouses and proper new construction sustainable development standards. ***********************

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Anyone who is an idealist, and wonders what they can do. You can when you say ICAN. If every other person contributed $20 a year towards benefitting their community, can you imagine how that yearly money could continually improve any area. Our goal isn't to invest in things that continually need money spent on it but on things that once the money has gotten something, it is in place for the betterment of the community. There are many things that can be gotten with $20. A tree can be bought, trash bags for collecting trash and some vegetable seeds. That's just with $20. Say we had a couple hundred dollars. Maybe there's somewhere you always drive by or walk by that's old and run down. The city hasn't town it down and it always seems sad, maybe it has a great wall that could be painted. The power of wall murals is that most always the themes of these murals is positive. Now everyday, you and 20,000 other people each day will pass by that building and smile. The price of a smile is worth the most and costs the least.
