About Me

Founder of Starbelly Studios , specializing in headshot/event photography, art photography, as well as video production and post production services. I'm shooting a series of photos using a technique that creates a picasso-like alteration of perspective. If you're a guy or girl that's in great shape and don't mind dropping trou on camera, let me know. You can look at the pix on the Starbelly Studios site.

That's the boring stuff. And the exciting stuff. Sometimes it's both at the same time. Or neither. I'm conflicted.

Let's see...I'm agnostic, but vehemently anti-religion, and getting more so every time Ratzinger opens his mouth or Ahmadinejad sends a letter. And don't get me started on Dubya. Faith is willful ignorance.

I write some songs and play guitar in a little group called The Nancys. We're an odd mix of styles, primarily because I can't focus. My co-writer screams a lot and sometimes sounds like a bird.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Ricky Gervais. Though I'm sure he would probably annoy the fuck out of me after about 1/2 an hour 2 minutes. Joss Whedon would be another one, but he'd just intimidate me by being all smart and shit.

Music:

Lately, I've totally gotten into ambient stuff, old and new. Eno and the like. Cliff Martinez creates great atmoshperic movie scores. Howard Shore is also a favorite composer. Barber's Adagio for strings makes me weepy every time I hear it. On the other end of the spectrum we have yer basic Nine Inch Nails, Wilco, Tegan and Sarah, Rufus Wainwright, some 80's pop stuff...sort of. Ok Gary Numan's "Cars" is brilliant. And speaking of Cars, their first two albums were also brilliant. Keeping the link going, Weezer is a fav, and Foo Fighters. I also dig some of the prog stuff, Crimson and Rush, etc. Oh, Dolly Parton's bluegrass stuff is cool, and there's this little known band called the Psychodots that still amazes me every time I see them. I've recently been getting back into Zep's Physical Grafitti, which I haven't really listened to in 20 years. Do I keep going?

Movies:

Alien. Serenity. The Station Agent. Vertigo. Psycho. Brokeback Mountain was robbed of the Oscar® because being gay has now become a national joke, but it totally deserved best picture. Movies are hard to pick out, primarily because I usually can't remember what movie I saw last weekend.

Television:

Anything Joss Whedon. Family Guy. Robot Chicken. The Office (original). Little Britain. How I Met Your Mother seems to be keeping up a fairly smart standard. We'll see if that continues in the second season. Arrested Development was fantastic.

Books:

Short story anthologies. Specifically, The Year's Best Science Fiction annual series consistently comes through with great stories. I don't have the attention span for novels anymore. "The End of Faith" by Sam Harrris looked like it was going to be right up my alley, but the guy bores me. He says everything I want to say, except 20 times more complicated. At some point, I'm going to read the books that have been sitting on my shelf, like "Fiasco" by Lem (RIP).
