About Me

Aka Craig Underwood, started out in Birmingham, AL, with the goal of being a novelist, the American Dostoevski. Moved to Austin, TX, 1977 and was abducted by poets, forced to convert and live as one. In 1982 became punk rock poobah, managed venues Ritz Theatre and Voltaire's Basement. Lived at Paperbacks Plus Books and learned the used book business, gave poetry readings, made the scene, wrote my first unpublished un-novel. In 1987 moved back to Birmingham, continued working in the used book business. Opened my own shop, Books, 1995. Hung in the poetry scene, helped organize the Birmingham Poetry Slam & City Stages Spoken Word Festival with cohort Hunter Bell. Learned desktop publishing and self-published handful of poetry chapbooks. Quit poetry to write un-novels. Unpublished, lost faith in words, quit writing to become a collage artist. At present time am sub-commandante of The Bare Hands Gallery annual Day of the Dead celebration. Make my living (barely) selling books & stuff online via Craig Legg Books (see Blog blurb for link). AND PLEASE READ MY BLOG COMMENTS AND VIEW MY PICS! THAT IS WHAT THIS PAGE IS ALL ABOUT! I HAVE NO GROOVY MUSIC NOR GOOFY VIDEO TO PLAY FOR YOU...at least not yet (working on it). Also, I have plenty of photos posted on FLICKR.COM, many of which cover the same turf covered here. No need to duplicate here what I have there, ergo please CHECK OUT FLICKR PICS, accessed via link posted in Blog blurb. The links may or may not work. If not, you can still access the sites, but you'll have to navigate manually. Maybe someday my links'll work (good title for a poem or song). FLASH UPDATE! Hunter Bell just posted a fabulous video of Sun Ra in Friends Comments section- check it out!
