Having played with such versatile groups such as The Dorian Jazz Quartet, Rawson, The Cliffs, Blondes Pass Out, Strozier, Damon Carroll, the Adam Ramsay & C.J. Glass Quartet, The Rubin Family Band, and even productions of musicals, Alex Rivas is rapidly earning a name for himself as a drummer in the New York City music scene. Picking up the sticks at the age of six, Rivas was influenced from a young age by a variety of drummers, from Stewart Copeland and John Bonham all the way back to jazz greats Elvin Jones, Jimmy Cobb and Tony Williams. Inspired by such an eclectic taste in music, Rivas has taken gigs spanning many musical genres from jazz, Latin, and calypso, to rock, funk, and trance. Having performed at venues such as the Highline Ballroom, Berklee Performance Center, Mercury Lounge, Knitting Factory, SouthPaw and Grape Street Music Complex, Rivas is no stranger to the gigging circuit, nor to the studio where he thrives off the ever irritating tick of the metronome.
