At 32 years old, Mario Calegari fell in love with DJing at the age of 16, when his father, a Pub owner in Newark N.J., gave Mario some extra equipment he had from one of his locations. For an individual who practice and preaches simplicity, Mario spent continuous hours learning by trial and error to perfect his hard pounding tribal beats. Inspired by the likes of Danny Tenaglia and DJ Vibe , Mario would sometimes attend parties by himself and stand by the speakers for hours, listening to every sound and paying close attention to every detail that other Djs perfected. Once being confident in his own talents, Mario promoted to his fellow own Brazilians who did not know much about his taste of house music, but once they entered the atmosphere he was holding, they automatically fell in love with the sounds he spun in their ears.
Mario then opened up his own club in Ironbound Newark called Fuel, where he and other fellow DJ's spun sets for as long as 15 hours, because no one had to urge to leave the intense atmosphere at hand. Mario took his talents one step further and teamed up with friend Ray Biones and released their first official single Dark Samba which was an amazing success and Djs across the world spun the single to many satisfied club goers.
Since then, Mario has spun in hot spots such as PACHA NYC, Gypsy Tea, Avalon, Deko Lounge, Abyss, Pervert Lounge in Mexico City and recently became resident DJ at GYPSY TEA after-hours on Sat/Sun Mornings. Be on the look out to hear Mario spin in many more prized venues and listen for releases of some of his next upcoming tracks.
