Virginia has been a blessing and a curse throughout history; it's the place where Pochahantis lost her culture, married an Englishman, and changed her name to Rebecca. It's home to the most famous slave revolt in history, Nat Turner's. This is where blunt honestly colides with smiles. This is where the rhyme meets stanza structure. This is home to 4 poets that are looking to make a serious mark on the national level.MEGAN RICKMAN is a single mother fighting what this nation considers "fair" for struggling parents; from tuituion and welfare to failing fathers in this country. She snatched 4th place in a 5-round grand slam with 103-fever and a kidney infection, on the brink of fainting, AND drew a "2" in the first round! This is her first time going to the national level.NazDak is the introspective/spiritual guide of the team. He has come a long way; refusing to accept statistical rumors of where black men are most likely to end up! He is a shining example of "yes, we can" and aims to spread this message to young people everywhere!NARRATOR; ex-thug/gangster/badass turned father and husband/God-fearing/lover of life and WORDS. He was the SlamRichmond grand slam Champion in 2007, and his love for fellow poets us unfathomable!SABRINA GILBERT; do NOT let her looks fool you! She isn't our 2008 Poetry Slam Champ for nothing! Baltimore will be grieving as this poet came to us in search of a home for expression, and won our 2008 Grand Slam!
