In the ever changing music industry, Channel strives to create new business opportunities. With the advent of the digital music age, Channel is working on discovering new artists and music - and bringing them to the world in a different way.
Notwithstanding traditional distribution methods, Channel and its artists will ultimately be delivering music over the Internet. We will do this utilizing iTunes and other online services, cable and satellite systems and other methods.
At the moment, Channel is independent, but has distribution relationships with the majors. We owe a tremendous amount of gratitude to the major distributors for assisting us with our artists - as well as their continued belief, expertise and support. One of our primary goals is to find a way to make each one of our artists truly stand out. After all, if you think trying to find a new artist in a record store can be difficult, try searching on the Internet. As the saying goes: its like trying to find a needle in a haystack.
It is extremely difficult to create and successfully release a record. However, we are very driven to bring about new ideas and access our important contacts - to try out new or proven methods to market an artist.
The most difficult thing for us is to discover new artists and great new songs. In the selection process, we try very hard to utilize and consider several core elements that are listed below. We become "partners" with artists who are very talented and have:

unique musicality
longevity and depth in their artistry and craft
excellent ability to interact with other musicians
outstanding live performance skills
ability to learn, communicate and listen to advice
integrity and respect for their peers

The above represents a "snapshot" of how we truly think and appreciate the people and art around us. In retrospect, its sometimes very difficult to assemble all of the above elements in a single artist. At times, certain artists need more help in certain areas, like their live performance for example. When this happens, we assist in establishing a local residency for them at the best live music venue. We help them hone their skills and gain a bigger following of fans. Or, at times we may feel that songs need more work. For help in this area, we may consult and offer a variety of ideas. Sometimes the proposed solution may include more time at rehearsal. Other times, it could mean us offering an introduction to a writer that the artist knows or would enjoy working with.
The main point here, is to try to work together in a way to find the optimum solution for the artist. Whatever the case, we truly appreciate the kind of relationship with someone where honesty, help and respect can a long way - while searching for a common goal. In the end, we ultimately appreciate becoming fans of the music we hear.
