I believe in the three R's -- R children R R future. (Doyle & Debbie)

About Me

Here's what I like: Live music. Talented songwriters who can sing. Endurance races (triathlons, marathons, century rides), travel, art, Austin TX, microbrews (brown beer especially), malbecs and carmeneres, Neil Diamond impersonators, the Doyle & Debbie Show, Habitat for Humanity, Sunchips on road trips, pimiento cheese from Bread & Co., tackling huge hills on the bike, Patty Griffin albums, the movie ONCE, New York City for a few days, classic Alfred Hitchcock films, Oregon, watching babies eating limes, Cayamo Cruise '08, Brick Store Pub in Decatur Ga., figuring out how I'm going to see Idaho and wondering what to do while I'm there, etc.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Music people. Active people. Friendly people.

Music:

I like to put my favorite musicians in my Top 8 (or Top 12 sometimes). Some of my favorites are Patty Griffin, Josh Rouse, Griffin House, Trisha Yearwood, Fleetwood Mac, Shawn Colvin and Teddy Thompson, but I have many, many more. I am always in search of a great song.

Movies:

If I go out to see a movie, it's probably at the Belcourt. Their series of Janus films is remarkable so far.

Books:

I learned to cook from Mark Bittman's How to Cook Everything a few years ago, starting at the first chapter and working my way through it, and I highly recommend it to any aspiring cook. I also liked Dean Karnazes' biography, Ultra Marathon Man.

Heroes:

Patty Griffin, for saying so much in so few words and for knowing the power of hope. Giada di Laurentiis, for making it easy to cook Italian Everyday. And anybody who can do an Ironman, because that's an extraordinary feat -- 2.4 mile swim, 112 bike, 26.2 run. Can you even imagine? Maybe someday...

Hood to Coast 2007 - The 197-Mile Running Adventure
