Wow... Too many. I like music(see my music section), the SCA (a midevil re-enactment group (www.atlantia.sca.org), leatherwork (making armor and shoes for the SCA), woodwork (heh, powertools and sawdust - need I say more?), sewing(yeah, that's right, a straight guy who knows the difference between silk and linen, and can feel poly-blend cotton) cooking (I make a mean sweet and sour chicken, and no I havent touched a cookbook in years...), movies (but you might have to tell me what is showing - I have frineds who track that (www.randomchatter.com), A/V (hey its my job and I love it!), Travel, hanging out....
Just looking for some new friends, as I've said - not really a socialite, so I dont do the bar scene (why pay for liquor at bar prices - when I have a well stocked bar here) and I don't do the club scene (I don't smoke and I hate the stink of it after getting home...)
Let's see here - I like to make my own.I've played guitar for something like 15 years now, and I like jamming and writing new stuff. Who do I wish I could play like? John Mayer, Dave Mathews, Bela Fleck, Les Claypool -(Picked up bass a few years ago) *sigh* someday I will have more than an hour or two to devote to music making....Who do I listen too? Ironicly nothing like the music I play, I like Project 86, Mortal, Starflyer 59, Pillar, and more bands than I care to list here... Sometimes I listen to the radio, but there are so many comercials that I get annoyed and just listen to the news or other talk radio (jeez, I am turning into an old fart.)My buddy Ned (Mr. JELYM) and I are working on getting enough material to do some coffee houses around the area under the name NEG (No Effing Good), I'll try to post when those are....
huh...? we're going to the movies - so what's playing this week?
I like most of the discover channel shows (American Chopper, Mythbusters, and the like) and I'm a sucker for cool cartoons (futurama, family guy, teen titans, simpsons etc...)
Alright - I read too damn much, I've pretty much given up on just reading single books, I am working my way through entire authors now.... Let's see, Tad Williams (loved the Memory, Thorn and Sorrow series just started Otherworld, didn't like the Cat one..) Card (Enders Game and associated books are some of the best you will find), Jose Phillip Farmer (lots of really wacky sci fi) Terry Goodkind (Sword of Truth - like wheel of time - MUCH better!), Larry Niven (some of his wilder ideas are really cool), Frank Herbert (Dune, possibly - no definetly one of the most intricate pieces of fiction I am aware of...) Rawlings (Harry Potter is fun reading), Steven Lawhead (formed my foundation reading in fantasy...) oh and Douglas Adams (miss ya) the foundation of all knowledge (42) and without whom we would truly not know how to fly...
My Dad... He worked as a civil servant for 20+ years and then went to school to become a minister. He is now in his mid-sixties and is retiring - for the second time.
