Doing anything that allows my friends to tell me that "this stuff can only happen to you"
I like shooting the bull with just about anyone. But as far as famous people go, then Lev Tolstoy (his work directly influenced Gahndi and was passed on to Dr. King) Tolstoy needs to be given credit. Pope John Paul II and Reagan (knocked down the wall-would have at least liked to say thank you). I would like to meet Keith Richards, just to ask him what the afterlife is like, I think he might be the only person on earth that can actually answer that question, and he fuckin ROCKS! A good sparring partner.
Too many to list. I went through my hip hop stage, but I still dig good old-school and basically anything that comes from Outkast or Common. I went through my deadhead stage, but I ran out of drugs and realized they werent for me. Same goes for Phish. Love classic rock, Floyd, Zep, Dylan, THE STONES, Neil Young, Clapton, Beatles etc. These cats dont need no instructions to know how to rock. Blues are great, Robert Johnson in particular, although Erma, Etta, and the King are phenomenal as well. FUNK, FUNK, FUNK- George Clinton, Isleys, Curtis funkin Mayfield, Sly, and Stevie. Motown is great, from the very beginning to the Jackson 5-it's all gravy. Give me some Zydeco, a little two-step never hurt anyone.
Old school TV. All in the Family, The Honeymooners, Three's Company, and A-Team. As for the new stuff, well obviously the Simpsons, Family Guy, Curb your Enthusiasm (I just identify with Larry David-ever stand in line at a drive through, on foot? Well I have) Sopranos, and my new favorite show, My Name is Earl-its piss your pants funny. I hate reality tv, it makes me want to vomit-although I do admit I got into the first season of the apprentice (it happens when you have only 4 channels in college) South Park, Daily Show, Always Sunny, and Entourage. And let's not forget Maury, I just cant get enough paternity test shows, makes me laugh.
The Little Prince! It's a kids book (with pictures) but has lessons for everyone who wants to remain young. And it's an easy read. Night by Elie Wiesel, quite depressing, but very moving. Anything by Tolstoy-although I haven't gotten around to his longer works, I dig short stories. Dostoyevsky is top shelf as well. Russian literature is amazing. Pushkin's Eugene Onegin is the most masterfully written piece of literature (in my opinion) EVER! But only if it's read in Russian. Slaughterhouse Five, and Catcher in the Rye.
