I was born and raised in Lansdale, PA (a suburb of Philly). After graduating from North Penn HS, I ventured to the center of Pennsylvania (AKA the middle of nowhere) to do my undergrad at Penn State in Classics and Ancient Mediterranean Studies (which means dead languages and dead people). Since I loved living in Europe so much (I studied abroad in Athens for six months) and since I was so tired of Pennsylvania, I then decided to flee the country to do a Masters degree at Oxford University. After realizing that I would a) go broke and b) lose what little mind I had left if I stayed at Oxford to do a PhD, I decided to take a year off and went back to my alma mater (this time on the faculty) to torture undergraduates in Greek and Latin. Having determined that, between State College and England, I had gotten about two weeks of sun in the past six years, I decided to come out here to sunny Southern California to get my Doctorate at USC. Besides spending sixty hours a week in the library, I also belong to an awesome church called Mosaic (www.mosaic.org) , and I have just been elected the new Elections and Recruitment Chair of the Graduate and Professional Student Senate.
