I just enjoy reading, anything. Bill Bryson is an absolute hoot, not only do you learn something about a new place, you laugh like crazy while you read.
My brother, my dad and my maternal grandfather. They all beat the odds. My grandpa came to the US by himself at 15, made a good life for himself and did it alone. My dad & his 3 brothers and sister were raised by his mom and they all turned into wonderful people despite their adversities. And my brother Bob spent the last 24 years dealing with a handicapped son and very sick wife. The last 2 years were really bad and the last 6 months as close to hell as you could get. He never wavered in his love and duty to his family, I hope when I need it, I can find 1/10 of his strength.
