A double page spread from Graphis Magazine featuring some of my work.
I created the above Voodoo Dreams jacket image a long while ago. I was using one of the first versions of Photoshop, which at the time, did not include floating layers, which meant, that once you pasted an element, it was stuck permanently, and you could not nudge or move anything. Really big pain. Therefore, you had to keep multiple iterations of the image, and re-build everything from scratch.
The other thing I remember about this jacket, was the model, who worked in the painting department at an art school where I taught. I cut the image of her face in half, and flopped it, to make it symmetrical. As you probably know, no human face is perfectly symmetrical, the reason I chose to do this, was, the main character in the book is a voodoo queen, and I thought it would add a very subtle feeling of strangeness to the jacket.

The page above is from a publication in Seoul, South Korea. They were cool enough
to feature
a selection of my work over a five page spread.

From the archives: Cover art I created for Bruce Springsteen's Grammy winning "Ghost of Tom Joad." Bruce was cool enough to take time to sign it for me.
This is an image I created for US News & World Report. According to the article, 64% of people believe in Hell. Unfortunately, I am not one of them, however, if I did believe in Hell, I would rename it, "Earth." ;-)
