Finished!

About Me

Happiness all around: Anthony got accepted to Texas A & M! We will be moving to College Station in August and getting a dog. Woo hoo!
Furthermore, the countdown on the completion of my coursework has officially ended. I am d-o-n-e! The parents flew out for graduation and we had a terrific time. The next weekend, I took a short trip to Oregon to see family and Beirut play at the Crystal Ballroom in Portland. I've also been playing ping pong, tubing the Comal River, watching Netflix, pleasure reading, shopping, and going to the Alamo. Yes, it is an Austin summer, indeed, and I intend to enjoy it!

Autumnal Albums

Autumn is the season I most deeply associate with music.  Maybe because it's when the air gets cold, sending us inside to cozy up under a down comforter.  What perfect weather for acoustic g...

The Spawn of the Descent--i.e. my thoughts on sex, gore, horror and gender

Yesterday, Anthony and I saw The Descent with several of my fellow grad students.  The film was a fantastic piece of gore, playing off many typical conventions of the horror genre.  Most not...
