About Me

Next to composing I, like many others, love to cut, edit, copy, paste, sample, mix, mash and every other verb connected to modern ways of making or remaking music. I was my way of figuring out how to use my tools. But I started to like it and here are some of my homemade 'productions', one better then the other. No, I’m not trying to make money out of them. They’re purely intended to listen, evaluate and -if possible- to give me some feedback. Maybe someone might ask me to do a remix of one of his or her songs. Who knows.
For now, just press the 'play' button on the left below the tape...

Out of respect for the artists, I’ve added direct links to their websites . If one of them should want me to remove a mix, please let me know. I’ll delete it as fast as I can. Either way: thanks for the pleasure of having a virtual jam!
dEUS , Junkie XL , Limp Bizkit , Beyoncé , Red Hot Chili Peppers , Everything But The Girl , Rolling Stones , Iggy Pop , Quentin Tarantino , Rammstein , Frida , Tom Jones , The Cure , Nid and Sancy , Destiny’s Child
Besides having fun on my own at home, I'm part of a coverband called
ACE & THE JOKERS. Where else should I get the photographs below, right? By the way: a BIG thanx for those to TOM 1973

If you like you can take a look at our profile. Just click the image.
Anyway, I've made this promoclip using some more pics from Tom and video footage we've collected over the years. It might give you an idea of the live action... If you're around someday, maybe you can check us out on stage!
I sometimes enjoy making a compilation of images on a tune I make. Here's a home-made clip on 'O Supaman', a song in wich I've used samples from the classic 'Oh Superman' by Laurie Anderson, 1982.
You can find a few more clips following this link to FUNCLETUNES
And finally: I super-enjoyed watching this... How about you?
Thought that was great? Well.. This blows me of my feet...

My Interests

Music:

Band Members: I guess FUNCLE must be my alter ego. It's more like 'a solo project' to explore and exploit all of my musical ideas. Composing, recording, (re)mixing other peoples work... Basically: to do what I want to do...

Along the way, there's one person who's always around to approve or criticize, advise or adjust and to get me back on track when I'm losing directions. Besides the fact that he's living on the other side of the planet, he's important in co-producing by adding his influence. Always a BIG helping hand in mixing the stuff! And to be totally honest, he fills in the musical gaps by playing and recording the instruments I'm not good in, mostly live acoustic drums and guitars. If FUNCLE would be a band, Christ would definitely be part of it! We go way back... He's great and one of my 3 lifetime friends. Make sure to check out his link:

Influences:

I recently discovered a nice initiative for remixers. It's an idea of Peter Gabriel (yes, the one and only) involving his recordcompany 'Real World': you can download all recorded parts of several songs and make your own mix with it. Check out more details at Real World Remixed . To me an oppurtunity to mash-up 2 of my favourite Peter Gabriel tracks: Shock The Monkey vs. Digging In The Dirt. There are no personal profites involved, exept the fact I had a great time virtually jamming with some of the greatest musicians in the world...

Other influences? I'll just keep it short by saying: too much to tell. In order of personal loyalty to some artists, I've invited them to become a 'friend' on My Space. You'll find them there.
Sounds Like: Surfing My Space brings a person to people all over the world, sharing the same passion. While doing so, I've found myself listening to a lot of artists and songs. Sometimes it goes like 'BAM' in my head and ideas start popping up. In some cases I just can't resist the inspiration. You can hear the results of that in de media player.

In most cases I ask permission in advance. Sometimes I just want to surprise the artist. Just to get every misunderstanding out of the world: I do NOT have any commercial purposes by placing my arrangements or (re)mixes here. I don't claim any rights and if the original artist wants me to remove their song, just let me know. I'll take it away as fast as I can.

Clicking the image brings you to the profile of the original artist where you can find the original song.

DRY TEARS
The Rosebud Orchestra
(july 2008)

About 18 months ago, I remixed this song. It was the first time I made a remix for somebody who asked me to do so. I’ve got some files and made something different from it. I was pleased with the result. I thought it was pretty good back than. After listening to it recently, I kinda had the feeling something was missing, so I’ve made a few adjustments. Pedro, the composer of this tune, gave me a big thumbs up, so that’s nice to hear, right?
You can hear an extract from the original on the account of The Rosebud Orchestra.

FONKYY SPACE MONKYY
his reward: a banana flavoured toffee
(june 2008)

This has a nice background: Pulp Fusion asked me to do a remix of my song Café Latté and suggested I did something with a song of his. So we exchanged some files. Talking ’bout networking on My Space ;-)
You can hear both the results of his remix and the original Fonkyy Monkyy on his page. Just click the image above.
Thanx PF, was nice jamming with you!

THE RED MOON - ISII RIKA (may 2008)

This is a case of wanting to surprise the artist. Don't ask me why. Found the profile by coincidence and got a rush of inspiration on the fourth song. Since neither me or my PC knows any Japanese, it was quite a challenge to make it work. My working title was 'Square x 3'. I asked Isii Rika to translate and explain the song and I've learnt it's a love story taking place in the light of the red moon. I guess it refers to the Japanese culture (considering the national flag symbolises a red sunrise).

BADZ PRZY MNIE BLISKO - ALEKSANDRA KWASNIEWSKA (april 2008)

This 'dub' version was made after I got permission to make a remix. Unfortunatly when Aleksandra heard it, she told me the version was nice, but the lyrics weren't correct anymore, according to the Polish grammar. Probably a laugh for all Polish people if they hear my version. Sorry for that, I do not have a clue about the language. Since I had a lot of work on the musical part I still want to place it here, let's say for evaluation purposes. So please don't judge me on the language ;-)
