Earl Scratch has been djing for 11 years. At the age of 16 years he started with mobile djing, saved up and bought himself two no pitch control belt drive turntables. He could'nt afford to buy records so he listen and use his father old records. He first heard about scratching on the Code Red album by Fresh Prince and Dj Jazzy Jeff. He start practising up to 8 hours a day and soon entered dj battles around Cape Town. In 2002 he was crowned the battle dj of the year in Durban. In 2003 he was the overall winner in the Limpopo dj battle competition held in Polokwane, Heineken Western Cape dj championship held in Cape Town and Runner up in the SA dj championship held in Johannesburg. He was the Runner up in the African Hip Hop Indaba 2006. He played at events like the Smirnoff mid year party, Hip Hop Bootleg parties, 5fm Surgery party, Missy Elliot Adidas clothing launch, Mtn soccer opening ceremony, Adidas store opening at Cape Gate, Dockside Hip Hop parties, Max Power Lord of the blings car expo, Mtn Hip Hop Summer Xplosion, Audi Fashion official after party, The African Hip Hop Indaba, African Battle Cry and park jams held in Cape Town. He appeared on various radio station such as Bush radio, Mutha fm, Uct radio, Goodhope fm, Metro fm and 5fm. He also appeared on the Hip Hop show on Dstv (MK 89). His working with local hip hop artist and groups in and around Cape town on mixtapes. He was label by renowned international dj's Pete Tong, Smoking Jo, Jason "The Fool" Faber and Dino Moran as one of the best battle dj in South Africa. He then got a regular slot on UCT radio whereby he entertains listeners with his mixing and scratching. He is part of a group called Dexterity, which consist of two members him a female hip hop dj called Dj Salsa and a member of Fresh Ta Death crew.
