One cannot deny their destiny, regardless of what path they take. Oftentimes, the realization of one’s destiny can be a time consuming and difficult quest, even when destined for greatness. It was during Deon’s toddler years that his incredible gift for music was recognized. Born in Albuquerque, NM and now residing in Minneapolis , Minnesota Deon has wanted to sing since he was 3 years old. He honed his gifts singing along with a karaoke machine and plunking out melodies on his mother’s piano. By the time Deon was in elementary school he was able to develop smooth harmonies and construct beautiful melodies. Deon finds musical inspiration through a wide range of artists including; Stevie Wonder, Babyface, Musiq Soulchild, and Usher.Deon has been a regular contestant in numerous local talent shows. These frequent competitions put Deon in contact with rap artists in the Minneapolis area. Through these contacts he began singing hooks for many of them. One month before his 18th birthday Deon came under the management of T.C. Lewis and they formed Thurabread Entertainment. Thurabread Entertainment consists of 3 solo rap artist’s Selfish, Uneasy and Strap. During the recording of The Thurabreads first compilation album Deon was given the nickname “Deon the Young Phenom” for his ability to write, produce, rap and sing. Deon has excelled in all areas of music, from writing, performing and producing. Thurabreads released their compilation “In Da Streetz” in July 2006.Deon has since become a Local Celebrity in the Twin Cities. Deon has opened for acts such as Chris Brown, T.I., Sharperpalooza featuring Ludacris, Young Buck, Busta Rhymes, Young Dro, Young Joc, Jon B, Lil Wayne, Young Jeezy, Tyreese, Lloyd, Clipse, Cherish, Lil Scrappy, The Minneapolis Juneteenth Celebration, The B96 Summer Heat Concert and Hood Hard Day 2007. Everywhere he goes locally people greet him by singing “Hello Hello” in reference to his first single “Hello”. Mothers and fathers joking tell him that their daughters are “in love” with him. The positive attention and response from critics, fans and peers alike, has been surprising to Deon. Listeners have been quick to praise his superlative singing, stage presence and universal appeal. Deon’s response to the attention…"I didn’t know people would accept it so quickly. I thank God every day for blessing me with this gift of music."After Graduating High School in June of 2006, Deon began working on his debut album “Situations”, which has been changed to “All I Do”. Deon has spent night and day working on this project, writing, singing, and producing with one goal in mind, to be the best. When asked about the album he says “It’s all me just being me, I want to be known as one of the greats”. As far as Deon’s future the sky is absolutely the limit.
