About Me

I am happily married since July 8th, 2005. Hopefully my lovely wife agrees because I can be a pain in the ass sometimes. I live in NJ where I've been most of my life but for a few spats of Pennsylvania life here and there. I love my wife, family, my friends who are considered family, and my many acquaintances in life who can call me a friend.I feel that I have a way of making people feel happy and comfortable (if I want to). Although I have been told that some people fear me the first time we meet because my occasional shyness can easily be interpreted into uneasy intimidation. For those of you who have experienced this I sincerely apologize. However I guarantee that the second encounter would be much more pleasant.I consider myself generally simple, easy going. I am really not very complicated like most men but, I can be mysterious, if you will. At least that's what I've been told...I wrote this a while ago when I had a considerable amount of confidence. I'm learning more recently That I am very complicated. 11-21-06I would call myself a caretaker, a peacekeeper. I will also admit that I can get lost like anyone else can, or cut through the woods instead of following the yellow-brick road like I planned. I do eventually find my way back to the road and I take the experiences with me. I like to take experiences and learn from them. I am not opposed to using my friends or family's experiences. I feel that wisdom can be gained from everything and everyone around us. If an older gentlemen tells me to consider his advice then I will. Because he has been where I am now. He has more experiences then I do. Why make mistakes if they can be avoided? We do learn from our mistakes of course but if we can think a few moves ahead like a chess game we can examine our options and decide what is best for ourselves. Basically what I am saying is that experience doesn't always have to be first hand. That is why there are history books.I love music, philosophy, singing, guitar. I enjoy funny movies because laughing is good. I like dogs when they behave because it makes my wife happier. I love to get beat on a pool table because it makes me a better pool player. Makes me play a better game. I love to learn and examine. I love people and culture. I love a good game of volleyball and a good game of yahoo pool.Enough about me

Music:

I love it all. I especially like high energy rock and roll. Give me some Lenny Kravitz, Blues Traveler, and Black Crows. I love the Allman Brothers and Santana. To me the things in common with these artists is that they all make you feel an emotion when they sing and play. They have a something that I would like to achieve as a music artist. Did i say I sing?I am not limited to Rock and Roll. I grew up on Run-DMC and the Fat Boys. I also grew up on Ozzy Osbourne and Motley Crue. A bit odd...yes. When I was ten I moved in with my grandparents. My cousin Mike was the coolest kid in town. We shared a bedroom in the attic. We were also the most culturally mixed up family in town. Mike and i were both half white and half black. So we went both ways with the music. I could sing you Iron Maiden and i could also sing you New Edition. Can I play with Madness...Cool it Now. As a singer I have learned to open up my appreciation to voices. Plus one of my greatest influences is my own mother. She is a singer as well as all of her sisters. She had me growing up on Aretha and Marvin. We would listen to either Phoebe Snow or Steely Dan on Sundays when we cleaned the house. Stevie Wonder, Ella Fitzgerald, Al Jarreau, and Chaka Kahn. Did I spell that right?? I also have a cousin who I'm proud of. Her name is Danielia Cotton. She's a great singer songwriter who is climbing her way to the top. Check her out at www.danielia.comAny way you can see I love music. I love me some Cypress Hill and Tupac. I can get with Tenacious D and Billy Joel. I love music. Instrumental is good as long as it keeps me awake. The only way I can do classical is live because you can feel it shooting though your body.Any who...I like my music live. I like when you can see the musicians up close and personal. I was lucky enough once to see the Blues Traveler at the McCarter Theater in Princeton, NJ. It was great. I was in seat 1A. You can probably imagine how cool that was. It's a prominent theater in town that normally hosts ballets, and A Christmas Carol once a year. For one night the place was smokey and wild. They tore it up that night. It was so small everyone could feel the energy. It was one of the best times I ever had in Princeton.

Movies:

When I was a kid I did not have cable. When cable was finally available everywhere it wasn't on my street, during my high school years. Yes young ones. A long time ago we couldn't get cable. We also had to get up to change the channel. Because of this lack of cable whenever I would go to my cousin Justin's house I would watch every single movie I could. I would never sleep. I watched HBO when there was only one HBO. I watched every movie good and bad. Especially during the late 80's early 90's. So I just love movies. All kinds. Animated, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Drama, Fiction, Non-Fiction, I am embarrassed to say I have even seen quite a few of those bad movies about the Mom who needs to save her daughter from the evil guy who beats her and wants to take her kids away and beat them and make them do bad things and kidnaps them and beats them some more and stuff. Ya know...they show them on Lifetime now in between re-runs of the Golden Girls and Designing Women. My favorite movies of all time has got to be The Goonies. I saw it when I was a kid in the theater and I found ten bucks on the floor after the movie. That made it a little more memorable for a fourth grader. I also love Star Wars movies, Lord of the Rings movies. I love Scary Movie, also part 2,3 and 4. I loved Better Off Dead with John Cusack as a teenager comically trying to kill himself, failing every time. If you haven't seen it you have to rent this one or buy it for 6.99 if you can find it in the bin at Wal-Mart.

Television:

Has anyone else been addicted to Lost lately. It's a pretty good show. They drag it out a little but I guess they have to, to keep us tuned in. But it's all about the Simpsons. Many years running and still funny. I love rude comedy so I like things like Chappelle show, South Park, Family Guy and American Dad. I like good Drama like House, Medium, Heroes, and the New Battlestar Galactica. The geek in me likes Buffy, Star Trek the next generation, and any other Star Trek related show. I have a thing for Science Fiction. I grew up on reruns of Battlestar Galactica and Buck Rogers.I will also admit to being one of the viewers of American Idol who does not vote. And yes...I complain when the good ones get voted off. This new show Heros is really getting good too! I think I watch too much TV! I didn't used too.

Books:

I don't read enough lately. I do love fantasy Novels. The big ones with hundreds of pages. I read The Deed of Paksenarrion by Elizabeth Moon. It's a good book that tells a story of adventure and tragedy. Everyone would like it. I like reading magazines if the content is good. I don't like tabloids unless they are funny. Ya know like Bigfoot was my Dad or I married a space man. That kind of stuff is cool to frame or hang up in a bachelor pad or a coffee shop. I loved the Catcher in the Rye, I also loved To Kill a Mockingbird. A lot of the great books that I read in high school, to me, really were great, not just because the teacher said it was. These are a couple of my favorites. I don't know if anyone has heard of it but there was an old book called the Silver Sword, now known as Escape from Warsaw, that I read as a kid which was very good as well. An emotional story about a family torn apart during World War II.

Heroes:

I have a lot of heroes. Not including Spiderman, the Green Lantern, and Blade. I would have to say my Pop-pop is definitely one. He had 10 children. Need I say more. Also my mother. I was born a love child in the 70's. She raised me mostly by herself working and singing nights and weekends to keep food on the table. She worked her ass off for me, to give me a decent life. Being a single black unwed mother in conservative NJ in the 70's and 80's. Probably pretty tough. My birth father ran back home to Germany to pursue his art career. I still have to meet him...She taught me a lot. She's a pushy broad so get out of her way. That's what she taught me.My beloved hero is my lovely wife. She has taught me a lot about life. She probably has more wisdom than I do. She has had experiences in her shorter life than mine that make me look like a novice. She is strong and brave. Yet she is friendly and helpful. She's a good daughter to her parents and a good sister to her siblings. She is a supportive aunt to her nephew's and niece. She is a fun yet strict mother to our dog Griffin. She has taught me how to appreciate and love. She has shown me that it is a good thing to be silly and laugh. She hugs me when I feel bad and yells at me when I'm being a dumb ass (probably not enough). She has a smile that can brighten an entire room. And she has more compassion than anyone I know. She is honest and caring. The perfect girl for me. She is and always will be my hero.
