About Me

I always need outlets for my creative urges. Working for a great radio station and having fun every day in my job! Big baseball fan, and a huge dork about stadium trivia. Music is hugely important to me. I love to sing and play guitar & piano, plus Karaoke is always a blast, even sober. Love my TERPS!

Anybody out there to sympathize with my growing hatred extreme aversion to discotheques and dance clubs? I wanted to give them a chance, but I gotta go back to my original assessment of: dark + crowded + way too loud = no fun for me. Ever go somewhere you swore you'd never go again, and then when you get there, you remember precisely why you swore not to be there in the first place? It's like that. They're also wicked expensive. I mean, I'm not bitter, I swear, and if you know me, you'll understand why I feel this way.

My Interests

baseball, radio, playing the piano & guitar, travel, beach life, writing, delicious pale ales and lagers, single-malt Scotches that are old enough to vote ... proud Maryland grad!

I'd like to meet:

Risk-taking smart-asses who can carry a conversation. Also, llama farmers.

Music:

I enjoy every genre on the musical spectrum, depending upon my mood, from salsa y merengue to acid jazz, from Johnny Cash to The Roots to Metallica, it doesn't matter ... I will listen to it all (usually while driving). Now that I have an iPod, the playlists are killer. Got any tunes or bands you think I need to be listening to? Then send them my way!

All-time favorites include Ben Folds, Beastie Boys, Billy Joel, Coldplay, DMB, Pat McGee Band, Phish, The Police, Virginia Coalition ... lately I've really enjoyed: FALL OUT BOY!, Copeland, Mae, Death Cab, Keane, Josh Kelley, Marc Broussard, Adam Richman, John Legend, Getaway Car, Sister Hazel, John Mayer Trio, among others... Also growing in my appreciation of country music, especially the old stuff; Patsy Cline, Merle Haggard, Hank Sr. and the like.

Movies:

Back to the Future, Braveheart, The Incredibles, Gattaca, Fight Club, The Big Lebowski, The Transporter, Field of Dreams, The Red Violin, Zoolander, Spaceballs, Batman Begins, Children of Men, 300

Television:

LOST, Heroes, Smallville, Futurama, Family Guy, Aqua Teen Hunger Force. That's all I need.

Books:

Big fan Stephen King's and Ray Bradbury's collections of short stories. Have also really enjoyed thick-ass novels like The Fountainhead and The Stand. With such little time on my hands to actually sit down and digest an entire book, short stories are just perfect for me right now.

Heroes:

People who set and achieve goals, and eventually follow their dreams to fruition, despite the greatest of hardships and obstacles. That's heroic. Sappy? Sentimental? Maybe, but when you actually meet someone whose life is like that, it's pretty awesome, and you root for them.

"Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful." - Albert Schweitzer

"The person born with a talent they are meant to use will find their greatest happiness in using it" - Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

"Risk! Risk anything! Do the hardest thing on earth for you. Act for yourself. Face the truth." -Katherine Mansfield

The Very Extremely True Story of Brian and the Fraternity

This is not a story I enjoy re-telling, but I guess the embarrassment has faded with time - more than 10 years now, actually - and now it's just sort of a stupid inside joke with the only friend I kee...
