About Me

Homesick travler, red-shoed dancer, aspiring Do-Wop Girl.

My Interests

Cooking, eating, perfecting a recipe for The Best Cookies In The World, cheap movies, bad movies, good movies, maths, travel, swimming, dancing, singing and playing. I go to church, and I like it there. Most things outdoors, and some things indoors as well. Holga and lomo. Reading, listening, moving, and worrying. Compulsively drinking water. Scrambling over rocks and fording streams, just like in the Oregon Trail game (but not hunting rabbits).

I'd like to meet:

Unemployed nomads with a healthy fear of sharks. Rugged French explorers. Fellow lovers of binary.

Music:

Created by the people I love. Played in basements.

Movies:

...it's been so long since I've been out to see a movie! Be my new movie buddy?

Television:

Lost, Arrested Development.

Books:

Anne Lamott, Tom Robbins, Douglas Coupland, Helen Dewitt, Jeanette Winterson, Will Eisner. Harry Potter. Cookbooks.

Heroes:

Andrea Poole, my Dad, my house mates.

Stage three!

That's right everyone, as of this afternoon I am no longer in New Zealand.  I have arrived in Australia!  It's strange and a bit sad to have finished my time in NZ after a year's worth of sa...

A blog post to you from the future

For those of you who aren't in the know,  I have been in New Zealand now for nearly two weeks.  Recently I discovered that while I had thought before that NZ is only four hours behind the We...

Five days to go

Things I will not have for five months: cell phone (hooray!), car (yahoo!), cat (oh...), computer, and other things that don't start with the letter C. Like a bed, a sewing machine, cookbooks, multi...

Get your hugs in while you can

One month from today I will step aboard an airplane to New Zealand. Glowworm caves?  Yes. Sunburns galore?  Yes. Making friends with sheep and mountains?  Yes and yes. If you want a pos...
