What is house music? Is it disco beats? Or maybe some electro drops? How about some deep or vocal sounds? The answer is: all of the above! That's the mindset MIGUEL MALDONADO has had ever since he started spinning records over 10 years ago.Since the beginning, Miguel Maldonado has had a very diverse taste in house music playing everything from deep and soulful, to funky and electro.
"I really don't have a style, I guess I just play a good HOUSE BLEND." - Miguel Maldonado
At the young tender age of 14, the first time he ever saw a pair of turntables, Miguel Maldonado knew that djing was his life calling. Although his original passion was RnB and Hip Hop, he was also heavily influenced by the 80's synth sounds of his youth, which later developed into an ear for house music. On a sunny summer afternoon while driving to the beach, a close relative threw a Doc Martin mix into the tape deck. Immediately struck by the funky hard hitting beats, Miguel Maldonado fell in love and in a single split second, his life had changed forever.
Since that moment, Miguel Maldonado traded all his hip-hop records for house beats. Within a year his mixtapes had made the rounds in the local rave scene and had caught the attention of a promoter named Arman the Brainchild. Arman and Miguel Maldonado immediately became good friends. This relationship eventually led to Miguel Maldonado playing his first gig at the massive Cow Palace in San Francisco CA.
His first year of professional gigs was a record setting time in which Miguel Maldonado played at all the biggest rave shows and venues in California including Survival at the Cow Palace, House Nation episode 1 at the San Jose Convention Center, Club Mercury, the legendary 87 Minna, Megga Buzz 5 and club 369 just to name a few. Since then, djing has taken Miguel Maldonado all over the west coast and even to Mexico, where he headlined club Vibe for 2 consecutive weekends during spring break 07.
These days Miguel Maldonado focuses his energy in the studio where he has pumped out 2 awesome tracks. His first release (under the alias floormooverz) was a remix to Bryan Cox's Revolution, which shot straight to number 1 one the dance records chart.
His second release was a remix to Bryan Jones "face it" and was released on his own label Move Muzik. This slammin' release which featured remixes by heavy hitters such as Harrison Crump and Jason Jinx rose up to the dance records top 10 within a week.
Miguel Maldonado currently has 3 tracks and a few remixes set to be released by the end of the year. Big things are on the way for this future superstar. Until then, don't miss a single opportunity to catch one of his amazing live sets. His music is guaranteed to blow your mind.
