Friday Star have born in the year 2000 as a side project of a hardcore band called Stainless Delight, in Rome (Italy). Everything started with the idea of three friends to make a melodic band following the wave of emo-pop-punk coming out from the U.S in that period. When they started to play they immediately found a perfect entente between each other and all the music came by easily, even if the band was basicly formed for the fun and not for further intents. One of the reasons of forming Friday Star was also due to the strong presence in Rome of hardcore bands (grind, oi! and old/new school) instead of really few good melodic bands. Considered that the music coming from the States (the Get up Kids, the Promise Ring and Alkaline Trio) was reaching Rome's audience they thought it was great to start with that style. The result is a mix of melodic sound and punk rhythm. In April 2001 they recorded the first Friday Star EP, titled "...long life debut": the first opinions compared Friday Star to bands like Farside, Gameface. This release helped the band to get noticed in the italian scene, with a lot of enthusiastic reviews on many webzines and magazines that described them as the new phenomenon of the italian emo music. They started touring Italy to support the release of the EP, sharing stages with great bands like Undeclinable, Link 80, Hot Water Music, New End Original, As Friend Rust, Strike Anywhere, Anti Flag, The Promise Ring, Down By Law, Propaghandi... In spring 2002 Friday Star went back to the studio to record some new tracks to be released on a Split EP with the belgian band Square One. The split was released during October 2002 on Red Hair and Ammonia Records, manufactured by V2 Music and distributed in Italy by Sony Music. That release has been a great success, making Friday Star become the most appreciated Italian emo-punk band in Europe and Japan, where the sales of the split were very high. This success made the label Ammonia Records, that cooperated on releasing the split with Square One, want to get Friday Star into its roster, deciding to produce their first full length album. The new songs were recorded in June 2003 in one of the best rock studios in Italy called Westlink. Defenceless, this is the name of the album, has been released in Italy in October 2003 and in Japan in May 2004. The band also made a 5 shows Japanese tour, which has been a great success. Back in Italy they are actually working on some new songs for the future album, carrying on with the live activity and have been confirmed for the Independent Days Festival in Italy, with famous bands as Sonic Youth, The Darkness, Velvet Revolver, New Found Glory and many more...
