hey all.. my name is Laili, I’m 23 years old. rite now I’m a member of two band. Ensemble d’Etudiant, a quartet jazz ensemble playing some jazz standard songs, and a few of our own. and then there is a duo project called "Rio Harlan & Laili Project" which played some jazz and pop songs. I’ve been singing for almost 10 years now. it was all started when I was 13 and one of my school friend had a dream that i was singing, and then she asked me if I wanted to join her all girls band, and without any verification I said "yes, of course". (what an odd starter for a career moves huh?!) we played mostly pop songs and well.. of course a few of our own tunes. but then as we’re grew older, and busier, the band separated. but it was also because one of us (that is me actually) started to loving other genre of music that we’ve never played before. Yes, when I was 15 I started to listen to jazz music. I’ve started to listen to Chick Corea, Casiopeia, Incognito, Louis Armstrong and every record that my uncle gave me.. and I knew it at once this is the kind of tunes that suited me..although I’m not really fond of jazz standard songs just yet, I began to love fusion and acid jazz.. in my high school years, i tried yet again to form a band to play in school project, prom nite and some local shows, my friends and I played few songs from monday michiru, local band called "the groove", boys2men, stevie wonder etc. in my subjective opinion, it was pretty good actualy, but then again, the band separated.. and now, as time goes by, I found myself in love with the blue note tunes even more, from swing to ballad, couldn’t imagine what my life would be without it!! Okay now, as you can see in this page there are 2 songs that my friends and i wrote.. both of the songs are from my band, "Ensemble d’Etudiant", the first song called "Solace" written by Robert Julius, and of course myself, and the next song is " A Life Without You ". hope you all enjoy it as much as we do when we started to wrote and recorded it..cheers!!
