About Me

It started off as a nice day at John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD. Then it happened: out popped the hottest baby ever, they named him Phil. He was raised in VA, starting in Hampton, then Charlottesville. The parental units split, leaving him with his grandmother until things could be worked out with dad & mother which of course never happened.
Along with being insecure from his parents splitting, some years later he found out that he had ADD and dyslexia, or is it lysdexia? Phil found himself fascinated by aviation and the idea of flight. Watching his first Piedmont 727-100 taxi out from a tiny airport in Charlottesville, VA he decided he wanted to become a pilot.
Having ADD and dyslexia was difficult in school. Being adventurous and outgoing earned him a ton of friends a large number of he still in touch with today. Numerous Ski trips (more snowboarding in truth) and backpacking adventures took place over the years. Phil fell in love with nature, earning a respect for all life no matter of its size, shape, sentient or not. Feeling there was a hole in his life, and having been raised with no religion, he began a search to find out which religion was best suited for him. After studying the majority of most mainstream religions, he was surprised to learn that Phil was in fact agnostic. In his search though, he was happy to have gained a respect for all religions from all parts of the world. This gave him a better understanding of different cultures and peaked his interest more so in wanting to travel.
After coming out in 1997, and being the only gay person in the state of Virginia (they all hid from him) - a job with Delta Airlines was begun and Phil headed to Florida to start his new life. He packed up his car with only 8 boxes of clothes and personal junk and headed south to start a new life. Some three years later, after 9-11 and a series of layoffs the job with Delta was gone. Six months down the road with close to no money, a retreat was declared and moving plans made to return to the independent dinky town in Virginia where he was raised. The day before the move he received a phone call from a little New York based upstart low fare happy go lucky touchy feely airline named JetBlue. An interview was scheduled for the next day and the retreat was postponed. After a lengthy interview process, he was given a job with the company which at the time had a handful of aircraft and a mere 2000 employed. The retreat was called off, and victory declared!
After working on the ramp for more than a year, he learned to work the ticket counter and gates, followed by setting up JetBlue Orlando Operations when the station reached 12 flights daily. Phil is currently employed with JetBlue and in August celebrated his fifth year with the company which now employs some 12,000 crewmembers and will have 150 aircraft next year.
He is always looking to meet new people for new friendships, and maybe even a travel companion. He however after being burned romantically more than once, is not interested in dating whatsoever for some time! A wise person once said, "It's a much smarter idea to try and make friends rather than make ex-boyfriends?"
Phil loves being outside, a sun worshiper, he loves going to the beach. He’s recently discovered an interest in becoming healthier by eating right and working out, while watching his girlish figure. His interest in aviation has not dwindled a bit. While plans for a pilot career are on hold until financing becomes available,Phil still travels often on his airline travel benefits often, here is a map showing some of the recent flights that he's taken!
Here's a snapshot of Life with Phil:

Yeah disconnected the cable since I never watched it, but now I miss it. I'm a dedicated fan of the Simpsons, Desperate Housewives, Dexter, the first few seasons of QAF, CSI, and Karen & Jack Will & Grace.

Of course I never have time to watch these shows and end up watching the Learning, Discovery, or History Channel to the wee hours of the morning. Hmmm you'd think I'd be overly smart by now, unfortunately my brain has an endless capacity for useless information. It does help spice up a random conversation at times with the tangents of information that I actually remember from watching those documentaries.

Books:

Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer - the most moving book I've ever read and related to. Entries from a Hot Pink Notebook by Todd Brown, Digital Fortress, Angels & Demons and Deception Point by Dan Brown. Anything written by Anne Rice. Prayers for Bobby by Leroy Aarons

Heroes:

Mom. Superman. Einstein. Michael. Lincon & Jefferson. Mother Nature. The Wright Brothers.
