things of beauty brighten my life...
i don't mind who or what... personality makes the world go round...
everything i can dance to...or just listen when the music feels good, it doesn't matter what style or genre it is, stop being shallow...Jazz is my main earpleaser... nothing beats the roots.
don't get going on this subject, film is next to design my passion, my soul, my everyday occupation. so, got a few days...:-)).when reading this you probably have. orson wells "citizen kane" & "touch of evil" (great opening scene which inspired robert altman in "the player"), all movies with benoit poelvoorde "c'est arrive..., les convoyeurs attendent, les portes de la gloires & podium", jacques audiard "de battre mon coeur s'est arrete","the sting" with paul newman, "chinatown" and if diehard "the two jakes" with jack nicholson, "barfly" with faye dunnaway again and mickey playing bukowsky as it was mend to be, almost everything by hitchcock, i'm not gonna write all 52 down, google them if interested, fassbinder same story, he started as a theaterauteur, there's something in it for all of us. sam mendes likewise "american beauty", billy wilder, my all time favourite, "irma la douce, some like it hot, sunset boulevard, avanti, witness for the prossecution, the appartment,... and loads more"jack lemmon is great in his flims. the same year as sunset we have "all about eve" by mankiewicz. sirk douglas "all that heaven allows", "paris when it sizzles" with my dearly beloved audrey hepburn, starring also a great actor william holden, "charade", "sabrina" & "breakfast at tiffany's". terence young directed "wait untill dark" with audrey playing a blind woman. check it out. then we have "gilda" rita hayworth sexy as can be on top of a piano. carrol reed gave us "the third man", while cary grant & humphrey bogart worked their way to the top. cary: "arsenic & old lace, his girl friday & also the hitchcocks to many to mention", humphrey & lauren bacall "dark passage, key largo, to have and to have not", humphrey bogart "the maltese falcon, sirocco, high sierra, the african queen", " the postman allways rings twice" and the last one for this section directed by otto preminger "laura". its not finished yet: "m" also a classic, "cabinet dr calghari, metropolis,..." etc. film noir on other continents is an impression of a style through cultural determination. in france we have "a bout de souffle" by the grand master of french cinema godard. jules dassin made "rififi", truffaut called this 'the best film noir i've ever seen", louis malle gave us "ascenseur pour l'echafaud" together with loads of beautifull movies spread over decades. on the other side of the globe seijun suzuki filmed "branded to kill". he's the underground, opposite we have the grand akira kurosawa, "google this man", you'll be stunned. excuse me for almost forgetting the italians. they too ofcourse had a constructive and stylish influence in filmmaking in general. directors as fellini "otto e mezzo, la dolce vita, roma, ...", marcello mastroianni is cool before someone even invented the word. ettore scola "una giornata particolare", pier paolo passolini "google, to much greatness to mention". back to france: tati!, truffaut!, chabrol!, dassin!,... and to please jonasty, my friend in trivia, i almost forgot again but clark gable montgomery clift and marilyn monroe made a stunner amongst stunners as those mentioned above, called "the misfits". "the killing, paths of glory, killers kiss, dr. strangelove and lolita"originated from the genius director know by the name of stanley kubrick. more from him in the colorsection. coherence in timesituating lacks in the info above, that won't be different in the info following. but panavision is now the main theme. "the graduate" with dustin hoffman by mike nichols, "2001, a space odyssey, a clockwork orange, the shining, full metal jacket" again by kubrick. hitchcock "marnie, the birds, to catch a thief- grace kelley and carry grant play wonderful-, again he made himself the man of undispicable movie making capacity in "north by northwest". marlon brando we situate crossing many decades borders, remember "a streetcar named desire, on the waterfront, the chase, the godfather, apocalypse now, last tango in paris,...".
