Obviously by my choice in books most of the movies that delight me have magic in them in some shape or form. Luckily since the LOTR trilogy did so magnificently, there should be quite a few more movies to capture my imagination (and I’ve got quite a fiery one!). If you've seen any REALLY good fantasy-esque movies let me know! If I’ve seen it I’d love to talk about it and if I haven't, I will be in your debt for bringing it to my attention.
Well now let’s see... The Gunslinger, The Drawing of the Three, The Waste Lands, Wizard & Glass, Wolves of The Calla, Song of Susannah, and of course The Dark Tower itself. The Talisman is by far, one of my favorite tales. I've reread it so often I’m on my 3rd copy. Stephen King is such a brilliant writer!! I care not what anyone says!! The Lord of The Rings, (naturally) and The Silmarillion. The latter is a bit harder to follow, but if you read LOTR or watched the movie and enjoyed it, there are a multitude of gem-like stories hidden within the pages of the Silmarillion just waiting for a patient reader to pry them out. David Eddings older books, The Belgariad series, The Malloreon series, his prequels were FABULOUS, The Elenium and The Tamuli (Sir Sparhawks quests I enjoy the most) Not too fond of Eddings newer books though :( Terry Brooks has also captured me with the exquisite Shannara series, my favorite being the Elf Queen. Apparently I quite enjoy "quest" books. Anne Rice also delights me, though good in small doses (gets a bit pervy here and there; anyone read the sleeping beauty books ??) H.P. Lovecraft, difficult to read, but LORD does he delve into things I never even thought to be afraid of. My fav being "The Shadow Out Of Time". Nothing quite like Lovecraftian Horror now is there? I also quite enjoy the Harry Potter books. Tasty morsels those are :) excellent for night-time reading. So delightfully easy to read! And SO British! hehe I read and actually enjoyed the Clive Barker tale of Imajica. Don't really care for his style of writing but it was highly recommended and I quite enjoyed it. Jonathon Strange & Mr. Norrell by Susanna Clarke. Also VERY British. I really enjoyed it, as I love books about the Fae, apparently there's going to be a movie of it soon?! I just re-read Eragon by Christopher Paolini (which I enjoyed MUCH more the second time around... I wonder why? I remember not being too impressed the first time. But this time I really enjoyed myself. I think I’m jealous of his immense success at such a young age.) Read Eldest (the second book of the Inheritance series) and that was quite good too. Now I’m gagging for the third and final book!! Currently going on a rampage reading through the “Best of Fantasy and Horror†books that are released once a year. Really excellent short stories from oodles of writers. The Huntington Beach Library has ALL of them. MUAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAA! I LOVE the Library!!!!
My darling hubby aka my knight in shining armor who gave me a backrub for 16 hours straight!!
