The Trip was formed in 2002 after various other bands and memebers
that have always included Eric Broadbent and Tech Thai. They had been
performing and writing songs together since 1997.
Eric was nominated for an ECMA for hip hop single of the year last
year for the song "the girl at work" from the album, "he wears his
emotions on his sleeve", and Tech Thai made the beat and did all the
scratches for the track, and the album won hip hop recording of the year at the 2006 PEI music awards. Eric was also nominated for an ecma for urban single of the year in 2007, for the song "pop star rehab", from the Green Pastures of Home, EP, and the boys performed at the ECMA hip hop showcase that year.
Tech Thai has made beats and put scratches on tracks for various
artists, Including ECMA nominated "underground MC" by J-Bru, and
tracks for artists such as Pimp -T, Practical Academics, Sik Kookies
and various others.
Their first release "Taking Position" is from 2002, and their 2nd album is "Society of verbal Individuals" from 2006.
Their lone video so far is from taking position, for the song "welcome
home"
Thai makes the beats and scatches, while both artists do vocals( Eric is the lead vocalist of Dead Airwaves), and
both produce and write the songs (Thai writes the music on one of his
many keyboards and can build or circuit bend a custom keyboard for
you).
Look for the Burn the Labels EP in 2007 ,along with a new full length release.
