About Me

COMING MARCH 2009
2010
Not since legendary rap groups such as Gang Starr, DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince, Eric B & Rakim, and even Pete Rock & CL Smooth, has there been such an original sounding duo. Hailing from Canada's birthplace; Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, the group formed in 2002. Producer Rob Banks© handles the beats and scratches, while vocalist Bill Dozer with his one of a kind voice and rhymes handles the lyrics. In late 2003, the fellas finished their first release called "So Many Problems" under the label Criminal Records www.criminalunderground.com Even though P.A. has their own destinct sound, they have often been compared to the likes of A Tribe called quest, Das EFX, Buck 65, Hank Williams and Big Daddy Kane and are said to be influenced by "good hip-hop, Johnny Cash and 80's hair-bands". In 2005, they "made 'er big" and toured the Maritime provinces with Epic (clotheshorserecords.com), tOUCH (dgcproductions.com) and FattMatt (futilityrecords.com). In their day, they have also shared the stage with P.E.I. rap legends - The Trip; Cape Breton's finest - The Sick Kookies; and Halifax greats - Spesh-K, DJ IV, Alpha Flight, Hermitofthewoods, Jesse D and JoRun. Lately, P.A. has rocked the placed with ShadK www.shadk.com from London, Ontario and many more. In 2006, they recieved a nomination for 2006 ECMA Rap/Hip-Hop single of the Year for a song called "Eddie" from their second release. They were also nominated for a MusicPEI Award that same year for the same song. At it again in 2007, P.A. was nominated for a MusicPEI award for their single "When I Say Hip... You Say Hop". Even though they have been working on a project called "Charlottetown Bound" since 2005, it has been pushed back 1nce again. In 2008, they put some finishing touches on their upcoming album, "Funktion Live", which is due out in March.

"Practical Academics, with this album, have no doubt established a solid foundation to grow on. With more albums like this one, they should be on the Canadian underground scene for sometime to come. Each track has it's own distinct and unique sound and theme, which is something that should be appreciated especially considering the state of mainstream hip hop today. This is a great introduction to this group, with originality to boot (see "Static" and "Let People Follow Me"). A job well done no doubt." - Rick O'Shea
