People who like the same things as me, people who don't like the same things as me (so I can argue with them and inevitably make them change my mind), other aspiring journalists, fellow music loving Manchester-ites, 42-ers, people who know nothing of the crunch and any famous people (because famous people are better than us).
Jeff Buckley completes me. I like other good music, too. The basics are: The Libertines, We Are Scientists, The Rakes, New Order, Maximo Park, N*E*R*D, Liam Frost, Bille Holiday, Stars, Jamie T, The Strokes, Arcade Fire, Bloc Party, The Beatles, Pulp, Razorlight, Damien Rice, Jay-Z, Ryan Adams, The Clash, The Prodigy, Fall Out Boy, Alicia Keys, Kings Of Leon, Art Brut, Elbow, Pixies, Interpol, pretty much anything The Neptunes or Timberland are involved with (despite his annoying habit of 'yeah'-ing all over every record he produces), Chemical Brothers, Scott Matthews, The Smiths, Justin Timberlake, Kate Nash, Rival Schools, Bob Dylan, The Killers, CSS, 2 Many DJs, The Walkmen, Basement Jaxx, Data Rock, The Cooper Temple Clause, Morrissey, Aaliyah, Klaxons, Gomez, Primal Scream, Marvin Gaye, Bright Eyes, The Knife, The Cribs, Amy Winehouse, Howling Bells, Take That, Arctic Monkeys, Bell X1, The Whip, Josh Rouse, The Sunshine Underground, The Departure, M.I.A, Aretha Franklin, LCD Soundsystem, Archie Bronson Outfit, The Long Blondes, Beyonce, Nick Drake, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Duke Spirit, Elliot Smith, The Presets, Snow Patrol, The Young Knives, Otis Redding, Doves, The Beach Boys, Kanye West, The Shins, The Cure, Ray Lamontagne, Franz Ferdinand, The Charlatans, Brendan Benson, The Rapture, Madonna, Weezer, The Jam, Eugene McGuinness, Cut Copy, Joni Mitchell, Girls Aloud, Outkast, Panic! At The Disco, The Futureheads, The Stills, The Little Ones, Nelly Furtado, Idlewild, Dirty Pretty Things, Kelis, New Young Pony Club, Edith Piaf, Editors, Pete Yorn, Prince, Guillemots... And Shed Seven. Of course.
Any and all Brat pack movies (especially The Breakfast Club and Pretty In Pink), Napoleon Dynamite, Donnie Darko, Lost In Translation, Labyrinth, Amelie, Little Miss Sunshine, Romeo and Juliet, ET, Breakfast At Tiffany's, Almost Famous, Heathers, High Fidelity, The Big Lebowski, Vanilla Sky, 24 Hour Party People, Garden State, Empire Records.
I'll watch any old crap if I'm tired enough, but I DO like The Mighty Boosh, Scrubs, Family Guy, Peep Show, Never Mind The Buzzcocks, Harry Hill's TV Burps, Skins, ER, Ugly Betty, Popworld and The Simpsons rather a lot. I miss Adam & Joe, Sex & The City, Friends (mainly cos I've now seen every episode at least three times...)and Reeves & Mortimer. And I like programmes with retro value that remind me of being littler: Pugwall's Summer, Saved By The Bell, Round The Twist, Heartbreak High, Byker Grove, Blossom, Sharky and George- all classics.
The Catcher In The Rye by J.D. Salinger, Little Women by Louisa M. Alcott, A Heartbreaking Work Of Staggering Genius by Dave Eggers, I'm With The Band by Pamela Des Barres, Cider With Roadies by Stuart Maconie, The Dirt by Motley Crue, The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath, The Virgin Suicides by Jeffrey Eugenides, Girl, Interrupted by Susanna Kaysen, I Capture The Castle by Dodie Smith, A Million Little Pieces by James Frey
All these people (and definately NOT Boyd):
