Crystal was born in 1982 in Pennsylvania, U.S.A.
She showed an interest in music from a very early age, possibly because her parents used to play "Hooked On Classics" to her while she was in the womb.
Crystal began studying piano at age 8, and appeared as a solo vocalist in school performances.
Eventually, she began composing and recording her own brand of music, and made her solo debut in 2004 with the uncategorizable e.p. "After All".
Crystal has also collaborated with groups and projects such as Young Astronauts Club, The Transverse Magnet, and Prize America, and also helps to run Howlett Industries Worldwide , the company that owns and operates Please Recordings, Fragment Photography, Quarantine Recorders, and many other divisions / imprints.
Notably, in 2005, Crystal had her first top 40 hit, reaching number 38 with the instrumental classical / symphonic track "Escape From Ice Castle". She also moved to Dublin, Ireland where she recorded music solo, and with various projects with her husband, Neil P. Howlett.
Also of note, in 2006, Crystal contributed to the top 20 hit by The Poison Control Centre, "New York", and contributed to several other tracks on the album which this song is from. She also moved back to the U.S. for a while, but is now back in Dublin, Ireland, where she lives with her husband since late 2006].
Crystal was a part of several chart-topping musical projects in 2007.
She is currently working on new music.
