About Me

There once was boy who lived in a town that was found on the side of the ole' muddy Mississippi River. He was raised in the projects and then moved to the 'burbs while he was in high school. Somewhere along the way he fell in love with Jesus, and decided to live his life for him. As he grew older he decided to commit his life to a cause worth dying for and worth living for.Well, he grew up and fell in love with a gal named Kristen, who was more beautiful than any other. Then together, they decided to tackle the issue of social justice. He decided to come up with a neat little summary of his goals in this: 1. Love God, 2. Love people.Even better still, he decided that in order to really love God and love people, he needed to have love with wisdom and courage, since love without wisdom and courage is sentimentality (as expressed by the average church member) and courage without love and wisdom is foolhardiness (as expressed by the average soldier) and wisdom without love and courage is cowardice (as expressed by the average intellectual), but the one who has those three things can shake the world. So he started reading really subversive stuff like books by Shane Claiborne and Jim Wallis, and he decided that the nuts like Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell just really don't understand the Bible. He and Kristen met and became friends with many other people who shared their vision (many of them are on their top friends). So together they began to plot. You can catch details of this at Emanation, but know this: the man who loves Jesus and loves people can shake the world to its foundations, it's happened before, it's happening now, and it will continue to happen. For now, he wrestles with the tentacles of consumerism and the demons of a consumeristic culture that devour souls. He also wrestles with other demons...For those who want to do stuff now, check out the following websitesThe Simple Way The Coalition of Immokalee Workers (Those folks who grow the veggies on your burgers and subway sandwiches) USAntiheroes The Christian Community Development Association (The folks who have been fighting the man for decades)

The Church should be inside-out, upside-down, forward-backwards.

"A church that truly dwells in the Biblical gospel will look quite unusual. Because of the 'inside-out' kingdom/substitutionary atonement aspect, the church will put great emphasis on personal convers...
