"To my beloved father who was called home to the Lord on February 2, 2006 after a long battle with cancer: Thank you for putting your trust and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and for receiving Him into your heart as your personal saviour. We shall meet again in heaven one glorious day."
Send these words of encouragement and strength to anyone you know who is battling a form of cancer: "A diagnosis of cancer can cause even the most independent person to experience a loss of control. Encourage someone coping with cancer to feel more in control of their life."
I Thessalonians 5:16-18
Be Joyful always; pray continually; giving thanks in all circumstances, for this is the will for you in Christ Jesus.
I am training to participate in the March 4, 2007 LA Marathon (in Los Angeles, 26.2 MILES!) as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training. We are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives.
I will be completing the LA Marathon in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers, including my father, Hank Choi, Ph.D., who passed away from Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma in February 2006. This news may be shocking to many of you as I and my immediate family wanted to keep my father's illness and ultimately his funeral a private matter. However, as we approach the 1 year anniversary of the passing away of Hank Choi, I feel that being open about the disease that took my father's life gives me a chance to educate people about various Blood Cancers and about the critical importance of early detection in fighting the diseases. Non-Hodgkins lymphoma is the 6th most common cancer in the US. This unfortunate disease will affect over 100,000 lives this year. Luckily, the effectiveness of recently developed treatment methods and advances in research bring us one step closer to findnig the cause of Lymphoma and related cancers. However, it takes donations from caring individuals like YOU to make this happen. I kindly ask for a voluntary donation and your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
