Miami's own - born and raised - yours truly MellowJ. True booty basshead with influences from Afrika Bambaataa, 2 Live Crew and all old school electro funk hit classics such as "Clear", "Play at Your Own Risk", "Egypt, Egypt", "Looking for the Perfect Beat", "Planet Rock" etc. MellowJ has been rappin since his high school days at Coral Gables Sr (Class of '88') where he also excelled in athletics. He quarterbacked his Cavaliers football team all three years to a combined record of 24-6 and won a district championship his senior year. MellowJ cut his first record in 1991 titled "The Real Whiteboy from Miami" with such tracts as "Break it on Down" & "Those Sexy Girls". At that time he started performing and opening up for artists such as Michael Sterling and Disco Rick. In 1994 he teamed up with Calvin Mills (DJ Uncle Al, The Puppies, Crazy Leggs) to produce his first hit, an underground club joint called "Shake Raddle, Roll. He also opened up and performed with many artists such as DJ Uncle Al, DJ Laz, Danny D, 2BMF, Crazy Leggs, Splack Pack. After a 10 year break in the biz, Mellow J will start work on a new single slated to be released in September of 2007. Under the new name "Persin", J's musical focus will be in the field of Electronica and Breakbeat. He will also remix some of his old material as well as release another booty song...as he says:Were bringing booty back/
