Wanting to find a different sound, Westside Memorial was formed in June of 2005 with the break up of drummer, Derek Stewarts, and guitarist, Harrison Daveys, band. The two clicked in even before they started playing, both having the same ideas on where they wanted to go with the band and the sound they wanted to get out of it. Agreeing that the band could and would never make it by stunning guitar solos, amazing singing, or fancy drum solos. The two best friends decided on what they wanted Westside Memorial to be about. The technical aspect was left in the dust and the Go big or go Home attitude was adopted. Westside Memorial would be its own through heavy hitting, going big, going hard, and a simply written sound that you rock your head to and stick your fist to. Over the next couple months, the two withdrew to the garage dedicated to developing this sound and their material. It wasnt until November that the band came out to see the light and decided on the addition of a third member, bassist Joe Alonzi. Alonzi brought a whole angle to the band and took no time at all to settle right.
Now its up to you, was the balls to the walls, go big or go home, straight from the heart route the right to take? Or should they hang back for a couple more music lessons and gain some weight?
