About Me

I tend to let crazy things sneak up on me just to feel the rush of novelty, such a child. My new favorite saying "People be good to let you know baby," thank you random second grader. The experimentation with my brain and body have been interesting to say the least; broadened my horizons quite a bit. Fasting has become a form of natural high, blurring my once solid perception of where I fit in this world. I have never thought like this before, maybe just because I've moved to a new city. One thing has remained paramount: learning something that has survival value everyday. Born in a desert, raised in a lion's den.

My Interests

I'm really a cool person trying to be a nerd. Momma says I'm not living right and men spend all my money.Live music, horseshows, comedy, travel, and of course spinal cord injury and recovery.

I'd like to meet:

.... uhh, anyone..... I'm a big nerd; studying all the time makes it hard to keep up with friends back home, and abroad, but I guess meeting some non-science oriented people in my new home of Louisville would be good. I've got to get out of this country, if anyone wants to join me for a trip to Spain please let me know, I'm thinking early summer 2007.

Music:

Currently listening to Tokyo Police Club, some older Portishead and Moloko, anything with DJ Shadow/ Unkle and Fabulous Diamonds. To itch my retro scratch I am listening to The Fixx and Smokey Robinson nonstop lately. I am all over the place I go to shows at Neighborhood Theatre, Visualite, Orange Peel...anything goes. Now that I live in Louisville I have to figure out what is up and around. Allright. The deception with tact Just what are you trying to say You've got a blank face, which irritates Communicate, pull out your party piece You see dimensions in two State your case with black or white But when one little cross Leads to shots, grit your teeth You run for cover so discreet Why don't theyDo what they say, say what you mean Oh well, one thing leads to another You told me something wrong I know I listen too long But then one thing leads to anotherThe impression that you sell Passes in and out like a scent But the long face that you see Comes from living close to your fears If this is up, then I'm up But you're running out of sight You've seen your name on the walls And when one little bump Leads to shock miss a beat You run for cover and there's heat Why don't theyDo what they say, say what they mean One thing leads to another You told me something wrong I know I listen too long But then one thing leads to another Yeah, yeah, yeahOne thing leads to anotherThen it's easy to believe Somebody's been lying to me But when the wrong word goes in the right ear I know you've been lying to me It's getting rough, off the cuff I've got to say enough's enough Bigger the harder he falls But when the wrong antidote Is like a bulge on the throat You run for cover in the heat Why don't theyDo what they say, say what they mean One thing leads to another You told me something wrong I know I listen too long But then one thing leads to another Yeah, yeahOne thing leads to another...

Movies:

I have a hard time holding my attention on a television too long, it feels sick. But I am definitely always game for some good artful films.

Television:

Nope, in general I would like to drop kick the television, yes I do watch tv but not often.

Books:

Over Christmas holiday I read Siddhartha (thanks Maryam) and Luther's Catechism. Currently reading Letters to a Young Contrarian (Hitchens) for pleasure. These are in addition to the outrageous number of pages in two text books, three journal club science article critiques per week, my professor/mentor that still lives in Charlotte manuscripts, two courses worth of lecture notes and audios per week as well, and keep up with my professor/mentor in Louisville research and manuscripts. Lets say I can never read enough.

Heroes:

My mother, even though I do not speak with her. I believe I am one of those weirded out people who calls my mother by her first name rather than "mom."
